ANOTHER SNAKE IN THE VAN?!

Mercedes opened the door and this snake dropped out of the floorboard like it had been riding with us all day.

Before we knew it, it tucked itself up into the fender well and turned a simple van day into a full on snake extraction mission.

For anyone wondering, this was a diamondback water snake. They are nonvenomous, but they can be defensive when scared, so we still handled the situation carefully and gave it space.

Once we got it out safely, we released it by the lake where it belonged.

Vanlife with two dogs is already wild enough… apparently now we’re giving snakes rides too.

High drive dogs don’t always know when to stop.

This is Kronos’ paw after doing what he was bred to do.

Work hard.
Play hard.
Push through.
Keep going.

Dogs like him are wired different. They don’t naturally hit the brakes just because they’re tired, sore, overstimulated, or starting to wear down.

Their instinct is to keep working.
Keep chasing.
Keep training.
Keep giving everything they have.

That’s where we have to step in.

Sometimes leadership isn’t asking for more. Sometimes it’s knowing when enough is enough.

Enough play.
Enough work.
Enough reps.
Enough intensity.

A good dog will give you everything. A responsible handler makes sure they still have something left tomorrow.

Drive is powerful, but structure protects it.

And sometimes loving a working dog means being the off switch they weren’t born with.

What an incredible day! 🐾❤️

Our very first Barks & BBQ was a huge success, and we couldn’t have done it without this amazing community. From the delicious BBQ and awesome vendors to the adoptable pups, auction prizes, and smiling faces, every moment reminded us why we do what we do.

Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, sponsored, and supported Trucks for Pups. Because of you, we’re able to continue making a difference for dogs in need.

This was only the beginning, and we’re already looking forward to next year! 🐶🚚✨
