What is the biggest mistake parents make over the summer?

06/02/2026

Here’s the honest answer:
👉 Most dyslexic students benefit from some continued support over the summer.

Why?
Because reading is not automatic for them yet.
And long breaks can undo hard-earned progress.

BUT—and this is important—
summer tutoring should look different.

Think:
✔️ Shorter sessions
✔️ Consistent, but not overwhelming
✔️ Focused on maintaining + gently building skills

Not:
❌ Burnout
❌ Hour-long battles
❌ Worksheets all summer long

The goal isn’t “more school.”
The goal is steady growth without stress.

Want help figuring out the right balance? We offer summer sessions and free consultations.

It's a hard truth but you deserve to hear it:

Perfectionism can be a hidden hurdle for kids with dyslexia — they often want to get it just right and feel defeated when they don’t. Emotional support is an important component of reading support. Celebrate effort, not perfection. Confidence grows when mistakes are safe to make. 💛
