A huge shoutout to the Paulding County EMA Volunteers!

This past weekend at the 13th Annual PPSA Glow Run 5K, our CERT/AuxComm volunteers once again showed what dedication to community truly looks like. From start to finish, they were on-site, ensuring the safety of participants, assisting where needed and helping everything run smoothly.

Events like this don't just happen. They take committed, trained volunteers who are willing to show up, stay engaged and be ready for anything. That's exactly what our CERT/AuxComm team does every time.

And, lets not forget how much fun it was! The energy, the vendors, the food trucks, the live music, the glowing crowd and the incredible community turnout made this year's run one to remember.

Thank you to our Paulding County CERT/AuxComm members for your continued service, professionalism and heart for the community. We're proud to have you on our team!

Wildfires are unplanned fires that burn out of control in natural areas. These fires spread quickly and can devastate wildlife, natural areas, and communities.

Wildfire protective measure you can take around your home are:
- Use fire-resistant materials to build, renovate or make repairs.
- Find an outdoor water source with a hose that can reach any area of your property.
- Create a fire-resistant zone that is free of leaves, debris or flammable materials for at least 30 feet from your home.
- Designate a room that can be closed off from outside air. Close all doors and windows. Set up a portable air cleaner to keep indoor pollution levels low when smoky conditions exist.

A key part of hurricane preparedness is understanding the dangers that remain well after a storm. This is NOT the time to put your guard down. Nearly half of hurricane fatalities occur after the storm.
