SWUSY programs give Jewish teens a chance to learn and grow as a Jew and most of all to have fun with other Jews. SWUSY is the Southwest region of United Synagogue Youth (USY), USCJ's Youth Movement. For more than 60 years, USY has taught young Jews the values and skills they need to become exceptional leaders in their religious and secular communities. USY empowers youth to develop friendships, l
eadership skills, a sense of belonging to the Jewish People, and a commitment to inspired Jewish living through meaningful
and fun experiences rooted in Conservative Judaism’s approach to learning, spiritual expression, and social responsibility. Through year round programming and domestic and international travel opportunities, USY inspires in teens a deep sense of pride in and love for their Jewish identity. There are many chapters in SWUSY region. These chapters are based in a certain synagogue and have frequent programming. Chapters often go to various places in their area, such as mall scavenger hunts, bowling, and pool parties. Many chapter programs take place at the synagogue. All chapter programs are lots of fun to go to. Please be in touch with the regional office to find a chapter near you. Regional programs, when all the chapters get together, take place less often, but are that much more fun. Every two to three months there are conventions, when teens come together from all around the region to spend Shabbat together. Going to a regional program is a great way to meet people from all over.
