In Arlington, Texas, AT&T Stadium has been completely transformed. The artificial turf used for Dallas Cowboys games has been covered by a natural grass pitch grown in Colorado and transported roughly 800 miles to North Texas. That transformation involved roughly 45,000 man-hours and 15,000 tons of materials hauled in. Every corporate logo covered. Every sponsor sign removed. Workers spent days covering the AT&T signage on the stadium facade to comply with FIFA's strict naming rules. North Texas is hosting nine matches, more than any other city in the tournament. Economic impact is projected at $1.5 to $2.1 billion for the region. That is what a relocation looks like at stadium scale.

The World Cup doesn't start when the whistle blows. It starts years earlier, when the first construction crew shows up. Barcelona 1992. London 2012. Qatar 2022.
Every major sporting event triggers a wave of multi-year construction projects requiring specialized professionals from around the world.
Architects. Engineers. Sustainability experts. Cybersecurity teams. Project managers. These aren't short visits.
They are long-term assignments. And long before the opening ceremonies, HR and mobility teams are already managing visas, temporary housing, family orientations, and complex tax questions across borders.
North Texas alone invested more than $61 million in federal funding to enhance security, transportation, and operations. Downtown Dallas converted the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center into the International Broadcast Center, drawing media professionals from around the globe. The ball is just the visible part. The workforce behind it moved first.

The biggest sporting event in the world kicks off today. And before a single ball is kicked, the logistics were staggering. The 2026 FIFA World Cup spans 39 days, 16 host cities across three countries, 48 teams, and 104 matches. Behind all of it: years of construction, thousands of project-based relocations, hundreds of thousands of temporary workers, and entire cities transformed. All month, we're telling the stories behind the moves. Because this is what large-scale workforce mobility actually looks like.Welcome to the World Cup.

A relocation policy is a lot like a blueprint.
When it's thoughtfully designed, every decision has a purpose. Employees know what to expect, leaders can plan with confidence, and the program scales as the organization grows.
When it's not, small gaps can turn into costly surprises, inconsistent experiences, and unnecessary friction.
We help organizations build mobility programs that balance employee experience, compliance, and cost control.

Madison Square Garden has one of the best relocation stories in New York City history β and most people don't even know it.
π MSG β New York City The "Garden" hasn't been near Madison Square since 1925. The original arena opened in 1879 at 26th Street and Madison Avenue. It moved uptown to 50th Street in 1925. Then in 1968 it landed at 31st Street where it lives today β nearly two miles from where it started. The name stayed. The identity stayed. The legend grew with every move.
That's the thing about relocation done right. You don't lose who you are by moving somewhere new. You take everything that makes you great and build something bigger in a new place.
The Knicks are in the NBA Finals for the first time in 27 years. And they're doing it from a building that knows a thing or two about starting over somewhere new.
Have you ever moved somewhere new and ended up becoming more yourself because of it?

Fun fact for the NBA Finals.
The last time the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks met in the NBA Finals the Spurs beat the Knicks for the championship.
That was 1999.
Now in 2026, the Spurs and the Knicks are back. Two franchises shaped by relocation, reunited on the biggest stage. The Spurs moved from Dallas to San Antonio and became a dynasty. The Knicks have played in the same city since 1946 but have called three different buildings home.

The NBA has been in the relocation business longer than most people realize.
Some of the most iconic franchises in basketball history got there by moving somewhere new. Here are a few of our favorites:
π The Los Angeles Lakers β Minneapolis to LA The Lakers got their name from Minnesota, the Land of 10,000 Lakes. There are no lakes in Los Angeles. They moved in 1960, left the cold behind, and built one of the most celebrated dynasties in sports history. Sometimes the best version of you is waiting somewhere else.
π The Seattle SuperSonics β Seattle to Oklahoma City After 41 years in Seattle, the Sonics packed up in 2008 and became the Oklahoma City Thunder. A city that had never had an NBA team welcomed them with sold-out crowds from day one. New place. New identity. New era.
π The New Jersey Nets β New Jersey to Brooklyn In 2012 the Nets crossed the bridge and became Brooklyn's first major professional sports franchise in over 50 years. Same metro area. Completely different energy. Location changes everything.
π The New Orleans Jazz β New Orleans to Utah A team named after the birthplace of jazz now plays in Salt Lake City. They kept the name. They kept the identity. They built something entirely their own in a place nobody expected. That's a relocation story.
Every one of these franchises had to start over somewhere new. Every one of them figured it out.

6 questions that tell you if your relocation partner actually prioritizes connection.
Not all relocation programs are built the same. Some focus only on logistics and timelines. The best ones focus on what happens after employees arrive.
Ask your relocation partner:
β’ Is there a dedicated consultant from day one?
β’ Do they provide area orientation support?
β’ Is settling-in support included after move-in?
β’ Do they help employees build local connection?
β’ Are there proactive check-ins after the move?
β’ Do they track employee sentiment at 30, 60, and 90 days?
The answers reveal whether the program is transactional⦠or truly employee-centered.
Because successful mobility isnβt just about completing the move. Itβs about helping employees feel supported enough to stay and thrive.
