You know how Texas weather likes to throw surprise forecasts at ya?! Well, that’s exactly what happened the day before Joe + Ally’s elopement. So they came prepared with a clear umbrella and snuggled up real close underneath it. 😊️

Jenny thought she was there to photograph another couple, but Kyle had other plans. 🤫☺️

We only had about 20 mins of light remaining when Angelina and I pulled up to the park so I knew I wanted to play with some off camera flash in the dark to get the most out of our time together. Which I was minorly (read— majorly) internally freaking out about, because I am not yet fully comfortable with flash portraits. Before I pulled out my second pocket flash, a SUV pulled up and parked right in my line of sight, but instead of asking them to move I asked them to just keep their headlights on for me and I placed one pocket flash high, behind me, and pointed down at Angelina.

Here’s what we got.

There was some trial and error in positioning her with the headlights and my camera was struggling at times to focus in pitch darkness.

But, what do you guys think?

1, 2, or 3? Choosing which one as the cover photo was legit hard! 😰

Techniques:
1. Copper ring, slightly tilted and touching the bottom left of the lens.
2. Cellphone horizontally against the lens for reflection.
3. Good ol’ natural lens flare from the sun.
Note: I placed the client slightly off to the side of the sun, inside of having her block the sun.

I was making all kinds of silly faces and noises behind the camera to get little Nixon to giggle, but it was a couple of grass tickles from momma that really got his little nose scrunched and teeth showing. 😍
