Korean Air has one-way flights from Dallas (DFW) to Osaka or Fukuoka (KIX, F*K) for $479-$489 with a connection. Flights August to September. No Thursday departures.

Air Canada has flights with 2-stops for about $400, but I don't think it's worth the hassle. Connecting in Canada isn't as easy as connecting in Seoul.
These fares don't have a cheap return. You'll get the most value out of this fare by using miles or points on Star Alliance, Sky Team, or Oneworld carriers for the return flight via points/award travel.

Delta and American have posted some round-trip flights from Dallas (DFW) to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii (KOA) for $346-$354 with a connection. Flights with the best routes and connection times are in October, November, December, and February. Departures on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. No Fridays or Saturdays. Holiday blackouts.

There are also flights with long connection times (5-hour outbound) September to May. No Friday departures.

Use the example dates list to avoid dates with long connection times.

You may also find some fares to mix/match American NONSTOP outbound and Delta returns to avoid the long Delta outbound flight.

American Airlines has round-trip flights from Dallas (DFW) to Cincinnati (CVG) for $199-$249, NONSTOP. Flights September to February. No Sunday departures.

American allows one carry-on bag and one personal item for free. You can avoid paying for seat selection by accepting the randomly assigned seat at the gate.

Round-trip prices for Hawaii airfare has been in a downtrend these past few weeks. It was $414, then $388, now $372.

United has round-trip flights from Dallas (DFW) to Maui-Kahului, Hawaii (OGG) for $372-$380 with a connection. Flights September to December. Departures on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday. Origin/Destination reversible. No Christmas dates available.

United's "Basic Economy" fares do not allow for a free carry-on bag. Only a personal item (like a small laptop bag) is free. Seats are randomly assigned for free prior to boarding.

The personal item size on United is smaller (9 x 10 x 17 inches) than Frontier or Spirit (8 x 13 x 18 inches).

When the layover is long enough, it becomes a side-trip... This will get you to/from Tokyo round-trip, but you have to spend 20-ish hours in either Toronto or Montreal. I know some of you know how to make that work out, so here are the details.

Air Canada has round-trip flights from Dallas (DFW) to Tokyo (NRT) for $823 with a connection. Flights in September. Departures on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The outbound segment of this itinerary has a 19-to-21-hour overnight layover in either Toronto or Montreal.

When I see 20-hour overnight stops in a city I want to visit "on the way" to Tokyo, I don't see it as detrimental. To me, it's a side-trip with enough time to check things out, eat some good food, and get a good nights sleep before the flight out to Tokyo - but I totally understand that not everyone will see it that way. If you see it like I see it though, I think this is a good price for what you get.

Just make sure that you're making a mental note of your actual arrival +2 days later in Tokyo.

Nashville tends to trade in a tight band, not really dipping low or going high. This is still below the 6-month low m/a. So it's worth mentioning in my opinion.

Southwest, American Airlines, and United have posted competing round-trip flights from Dallas (DAL/DFW) to Nashville (BNA) for $227-$257, NONSTOP or with connections. Flights September to March. No Sunday departures. Origin/Destination reversible.
