Volunteer Spotlight: Curtis Swinson 👏

For 20 years, Curtis has faithfully served Now-Forward through the food pantry and by providing pro bono counsel to those in need. His passion for helping others extends beyond NF as well, including tutoring immigrant children to help them speak English.

His favorite meal is chicken fried steak, and the quote he lives by is: “The most important question is not why you are here, but how you are going to live.”

Curtis says one of the most meaningful parts of volunteering is seeing children lined up for food and feeling the gratification of knowing he’s helping them. We’re incredibly grateful for his years of dedication to our community.

With school out for the summer, many families lose access to reliable daily meals. ☀️

That’s why Now-Forward is helping provide summer meal pick-up for kids and families in our community.

We provide households with food and diapers once a week.

Register at your first visit.

Monday – Thursday: 8:30am – Noon
Fridays 8:00am – Noon (for our senior friend aged 60 and older)

Whether you’re coming with friends, coworkers, a student group, or your organization’s team, volunteering with Now-Forward is a hands-on way to make a real impact in the community.

From supporting local families to helping at events and community initiatives, there are opportunities for groups of all sizes to get involved together.

We are currently accepting non-perishable food items to help support local households facing food insecurity. These staples help create balanced, reliable meals and bring real relief to families who need it most.

Volunteer Spotlight: Dan Cook 🤍

For the past 4 years, Dan has been a huge part of the Now-Forward family, helping in the food pantry and picking up food to keep things moving behind the scenes.

When he’s not volunteering, you’ll probably find him running, reading, or diving into a good British mystery. Favorite food? Tex-Mex, easily. Favorite movie? Chariots of Fire.

One of Dan’s favorite memories with Now-Forward was delivering bread for his church and meeting Peyton Campbell, his very first connection to NF. We’re grateful for everything he brings to our community each week.

Some hands-on help, a lot of heart, and a whole lot of bags getting filled.

Big shoutout to the Semones Family YMCA crew for showing up strong at Now-Forward, serving side by side with our pantry team to keep things moving and make sure shelves (and bags) stay full.
