Prepping to get some backpacks ready to be distributed! Spending some time today filling ziplock bags with hygiene items, so they will be easier to add to the backpacks. ❤️

The Deep Ellum Backpack Project

Amelia Watts of Rowlett, TX aims to help the homeless residents of Deep Ellum community with providing recycled backpacks/bags filled with necessities (tooth brush, toothpaste, hair comb, wet wipes, some snacks, water, blanket, etc).

Started in 2024 with a heartfelt idea from 10 year old, Amelia Watts, The Deep Ellum Backpack Project was born. With the generous help of her Papa, (Mark McGruder) Amelia’s first charitable adventure was a success and the gifts were greatly appreciated by the recipients.

Amelia has a heart of gold and wants to continue to brighten the day of those less fortunate. To keep this project going, we need the help of others in the form of donations!
If anyone would like to donate any of the below items, please contact Rebecca Watts or Mark McGruder.

-Gently used backpacks
-Medium size tote bags
-Wet wipes
-Bottled water
-Non-perishable food/snacks
-First-Aid kits or First-Aid items (bandaids, creams, alcohol wipes, etc)
-Deodorant
-Feminine hygiene products
-Blankets
-Gently used jackets/coats (since Winter is coming)
-Socks
