Starting this June, Youth Nights will be held on Wednesday Nights from 5:00 – 6:30 PM! This midweek time with the youth will look the same in all aspects, with dinner, games, and a Bible lesson. Big News, Spring Valley!!

As of July 1, 2026, Bishop Ruben Saenz Jr will appoint the Reverend Brooke Clark Gibson to be our full time Associate Pastor. Pastor Brooke just two weeks ago graduated from Perkins School of Theology, earning Master of Sacred Music and Deacon degrees, with additional concentrations in Worship Arts and Choral Conducting. She is married to Brandon and they have a daughter Lily, who just finished her freshman year at JJ Pearce High School.

Rev Brooke Clark Gibson’s role at Spring Valley will be as Associate Pastor for Music, Worship Arts and Discipleship. Her primary responsibility will be to lead our music ministry. But because Pastor Brooke is a clergy person, she also has broader responsibilities, including pastoral care and serving as a staff liaison between SVUMC Preschool children and families and our Sunday morning congregation- one of the key priorities of our church. Pastor Brooke will find creative pathways to ensure those children and families are growing as disciples of Jesus as long as they are under the spiritual care of the school.

Pastor Brooke's ministry at Spring Valley will officially begin July 1; her first Sunday will be July 5. I know you will want to welcome Pastor Brooke, Brandon and Lily to Spring Valley with all of our characteristic warmth and joy.

The end of the school year is coming up, and I'm sure all teachers are eyeing the finish line before summer break. Help us celebrate the teachers at Northwood Hills Elementary by baking your favorite dessert to be dropped off Sunday, May 17th at SVUMC. We will deliver the desserts on Monday, May 18th. We will also have cards to sign to show our support.
