In shelters across the country, some cats sit in "hospice" kennels — the ones with a diagnosis, a timeline, a label that scares most people away. They watch families pass by, choosing the young, the healthy, the "easy" ones. And slowly, they stop hoping.

But then someone kneels down. Not despite the diagnosis — because of it. Because they understand that a life doesn't need to be long to be full. That a few weeks of real, unconditional love can undo a lifetime of being overlooked.

Hospice fostering and adopting is one of the most selfless acts in rescue. It's not about saving a life — it's about honoring one. Giving a soul dignity, warmth, and the one thing they deserved all along: someone who stayed. 💛

It does not matter if you are elderly or just starting out. Adopting a pet should require new adopters to fill out a form outlining a plan for what happens to the pet if the unforeseen should occur. So what does "unforeseen" even mean? Unforeseen = Life. Things happen. Death. Loss of home. Illness. Alzheimers. Divorce. You get it. The better Rescues include a clause in the adoption contract that REQUIRES the new adopter to notify the Rescue to arrange the pet's return. Sadly, most Rescues have no way to know if something has changed until they get a phone call from a shelter ten states away that has read the microchip and found the owner never changed the registration on it. Folks, I can assure anyone reading this that has never run a Rescue, that we all have adopted out animals that we will stop and think about, wondering how they are doing. All the way to pulling the paperwork from years ago and calling the contact number. Only to find the number no longer works. Folks, that happens a LOT. If you are still reading this, the next time you see the person who did the paperwork for your pet, no matter how many years have passed, Thank Them! It means the WORLD to us! In closing, Paw Angel asks that you Have A Plan, just as you would for a child. Pets are Family. That's not just a saying. It's the truth.

Should any pet owner be able to enter any veterinarian's business and access these funds? I sat yes. It's our money.
