Thanks for the info on allergies D&L Farm and Home!! My favorite tools to combat allergies are daily nasal irrigation (ie netti pot), use of HEPA air purifiers in the main living areas, vitamin C, quercitin, nettles, and zinc. Stay healthy North Texas!
What are your favorite anti-allergy tools?
Are your allergies getting the best of you this week? With two back-to-back cold fronts moving across the state, it's no surprise that cedar fever is hitting those with allergies once again.
Cedar fever is actually an allergic reaction to the pollen released by mountain cedar trees - predominantly Ashe juniper in Texas. Typically it is the worst west of I-35, where you have primarily juniper mixed in with oaks and some other species, and because all of those junipers are producing pollen at the same time, you’re going to get a higher concentration of pollen in the air.
Ashe junipers are so concentrated in central Texas that, even if you aren't generally susceptible to allergies, it could still affect you. They also start producing pollen in mid-December and are often triggered by colder weather, or the passage of a Texas cold front.

Assessing vitamin D status is recommended for every new client. Deficiency is way more common than you may think, especially as we enter colder months and people stay indoors more. Find out your vitamin D status and go into the winter months knowing that you are supporting your immune system
Vitamin D Deficiency in COVID-19 Quadrupled Death Rate Patients admitted to hospital with severe COVID-19 and vitamin D deficiency showed a 3.7-fold increased odds of death. Men in the advanced stages of COVID-19 pneumonia had the greatest deficit.

There is a difference between a “naturopath” and a ND/NMD.
Dr. Maxwell graduated from a CNME accredited Naturopathic Medical school, passed both the 2 year and 4 year national licensing exams (NPLEX), and maintains an active medical license in Arizona.
This difference in training can be confusing in states that are currently unlicensed (like Texas). People that do not have an actual medical license can misrepresent themselves as physicians 🤬
To learn more about licensure efforts in Texas, please visit the Texas Association of Naturopathic Doctors website. Your legislators need to hear from you.
Another great resource would be the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians
Here’s what to look for when searching for your ND. If you want an easy start, we’ve already gathered thousands of NDs on our Find an ND database at Naturemed.org/Find-an-ND. Visit today!
Happy Naturopathic Medicine week 💚
