Folks within and outside of the cosplay community can be so disgustingly toxic and ra(i5t. Things like this remind us everyday that we are not and never will be past racism.

Cosplay is an expression of art and love for characters. Black folks deserve to participate in joy the way we want to. Our skin color shouldn’t be a factor in these conversations, but it is.

It’s still nerve wracking and I second guess myself all the time, though I’ve learned that the most confident people struggle with some of the same feelings.
