It’s always been easier to slip than to climb.

Falling out of a good habit takes almost no effort. Falling into a bad one barely registers on the difficulty scale. And when work and life really start moving I tend to default to the version of myself that trades long term stability for short term output.

I start valuing the immediacy of the work over the maintenance of the person doing it.

It’s not new. It’s a loop I’ve run before, and one I’ll run again. That part doesn’t concern me as much anymore.

What matters is that I’ve started to recognize the pattern early. More importantly, I know what pulls me back out.

Back to it.

I used to be such a big proponent of getting out and shooting for yourself for fun.

To be clear I still am, I just haven’t taken my own advice lately. I started to let “busy” become my entire personality. I started to make excuses to not do the thing that I love doing. Just walking around with a camera and finding interesting things to take photos of.

I could lead this into a whole diatribe on perfectionism and growing a business (and a business that sells creativity at that), but I think I’ll just save that for the inside of my head.

Sunset over the intracoastal waterway slapping the side of the Tiffany House Condos on FTL Beach. I do not feel like writing anything deeper than that on a Sunday afternoon when it’s this nice outside. Get out there and move, people!

The Wilder is, by design, a nighttime joint. A cocktail bar with burlesque dancers, DJs, art shows, and drinks that assume you’ve already surrendered to the evening.

These rooms are usually photographed after dark, when the lighting does most of the talking and the vibe arrives pre-loaded. But this time, the brief was daylight. Sunlight. Afternoon.

The surprising thing is that it still works.
Stripped of the night, the space reveals itself as something else entirely. Less seduction, more invitation. The kind of place that makes sense not just for an intimate drink, but for a larger gathering. Somehow, improbably, it holds up.

The sky, under no real obligation to impress, softened itself into those improbable South Florida pastels. Colors that feel less seen than briefly permitted. Walking the beach at sunset becomes a quiet exercise in noticing: the tide repeating itself with bureaucratic certainty, the horizon slowly clocking out, the day ending not dramatically but thoroughly. The sand cools, the light thins, and you get the faint, suspicious sense that paying attention like this might actually be the point.

Took a walk around Flagstaff, AZ before we shoved off. It’s as charming as ever. Every time I travel some place, even if it’s just for a fleeting moment, my brain goes to “could I live here?”

Short answer, no. Too small for me and what I do for a living. But damn if it doesn’t have legendary outdoors access within couple hours drive in any direction, which always gives me pause for thought.

An incredible group of people on an incredible adventure. Grateful is the understatement of the year. August 12th-26th, 2025 spent rafting the Colorado River and camping in the Grand Canyon.
