Abena Opoku, LCSW, is the Founder and Executive Director of The FRESH Project (Finding Resources Everywhere and Spreading Hope), a Houston-based nonprofit dedicated to serving individuals experiencing homelessness. For more than six years, FRESH has provided weekly meals, hygiene support, job search assistance, and most importantly, giving hope to those often overlooked. Abena is also a licensed therapist with a private practice, where she walks alongside individuals and families in their healing journey. Her work is rooted in her faith and the belief that every opportunity to serve is a gift from God, to steward with love and compassion. Whether on the streets with her outreach team or in a therapy session, Abena’s heart is to meet people where they are and help them take steps toward dignity, stability, and wholeness.

Samara “Sama Time” Osae-Asare is a 13-year-old honor student and international youth media personality whose work bridges the Bronx, Ghana, and the global stage. Born to a Ghanaian father and an American Caribbean mother, she proudly embodies the richness of the African diaspora and carries it into every story she tells.
At just 9 years old, Samara became the youngest national television host in Ghana, a milestone that ignited her mission to amplify voices with authenticity and purpose. She has since interviewed some of the world’s most influential figures—including Jack Dorsey, Tyler Perry, Angela Bassett, Lynn Whitfield, Rockmond Dunbar, Tabitha Brown, Tamron Hall, Usher, SZA, Nas, Lauryn Hill, Common, Michael B. Jordan, Ryan Coogler, Danai Gurira, Sarkodie, Black Sherif, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, King Promise,Taraji P. Henson, 50 Cent, Chance the Rapper, Vic Mensa, Letitia Wright, Sway Calloway, Mrs. Mattie McFadden-Lawson, and many more.
Her community impact spans both sides of the Atlantic: hosting the Bronx Children’s Museum Gala, participating in the Dad Gang March, covering Juneteenth for Opal Lee’s Walk, spotlighting activist Yvette Tetteh’s historic Volta swim for environmental justice, and engaging with cultural leaders whose work mirrors Sama’s commitment to inspiring and uplifting future generations.
