What a conversation these beauties are having together! I’m not sure what the green leaf is…can anyone tell me?
10x8 frame, cotton fabric base, Poplar leaf, “mystery” leaf, and Red Bud leaf.

The artistry of nature keeps me in a permanent state of wonder. My hubby brought this beautiful piece of Mesquite wood to me from a trip he took to south Texas. Topped with a lovely Pacific Cat’s Eye shell.

It all started with this ethically sourced Golden Birch bark. I loved the color…it’s just beautiful. Then the eco-dyed fabrics came along and wanted to sit with the bark. The brass cross came late to the party and was welcomed to the conversation. I love the subtleness of the piece. You have to get closer to have a second look.
10x10 canvas on 12x12 birch cradle, Golden Birch bark, eco-dyed and rusted fabrics by heartofohioquilts on Etsy, brass cross.

“At the Heart of It.” This piece of found pecan tree bark just seemed like a throw away piece until I turned it over. The inside of it (where the heart is) is beautiful. Thank you to Beckie Wach for finding this seemingly unremarkable piece of bark that has something remarkable to say.
14x6 frame, hand-dyed fabric, agate heart, pecan bark

I’m having some conversations with fall right now during the springtime. I love this little 8x8 cutie. Creating an inventory for my first art show in the fall. Exercising my artistic voice with these conversations with nature. Loving this!

I like both of these Magnolia leaf pieces for different reasons. What about you? Which design do you like better, design A or design B?

Assemblages are my crazy passion at the moment. So fun to create. These scrap pieces of canvases are 3 x 4 and 4 x 4. They’re made of driftwood, seed pods, rusted metal hearts/stars/trees/bird, hand dyed fabric, handmade papers, ceramic buttons, porcupine quills, dried leaves, birch bark, shells, postage stamps, feathers, sheep wool, Agate stones
The Back Porch
The choir is up early this morning,
feathered joy darts about singing,
the Phoebe and Wren the soloists.
Oaks, Pecans, and Cedar Elm hug me
and invite me into their home.
The sun quietly slips above the horizon,
the heavens glow orange over the lake.
I say, “I can’t take this in.”
You say, “Come and rest.”
My soul, weary and stumbling,
enters your sanctuary.
Not of gold or jasper or pearl
but of water, wood, and feather.

A different “small” for me. This is a 4x4 canvas floated in a 10x10 shadow box. Birch bark, aspen leaves, porcupine quill, handmade papers, rusted metal bird.
