Dallas Doing Good
Dallas Doing Good is a digital media platform focused on creating and sharing stories that support good news and good work in North Texas.
Everywhere we turn we see someone who is dedicating time, resources, and energy to making our city and our world a better place. Dallas Doing Good was started with a hope that sharing these stories we would inspire more people to do the same. After more than four years of reporting, we are happy to see that our intuition was correct and that positive community stories do, in fact, lead to more rob

Dream Center Dallas just wrapped one of the largest back-to-school events they've ever hosted, with 2,540 people served, 1,500 backpacks given away, plus new shoes, socks, school supplies, and fresh produce for local families. ๐
Families started lining up as early as 7 p.m. the night before. That's the kind of need this event meets, and the kind of dedication it takes to meet it!
There were also inflatables, games, and watermelon smiles all around. ๐
Huge thanks to Dream Center Dallas and everyone who made this happen. This is what showing up for a community looks like!!

Feel Good Friday: Ten Dallas ISD juniors and seniors spent their summer break with the district's Construction Services team, climbing rooftops, exploring crawl spaces, and touring architecture firms to see how a school gets built.
Under contract manager Joseph Rockett, students learned design, engineering, and project management from industry pros, then tested that knowledge on real construction sites.
"I hadn't truly appreciated what goes into architecture," said Jonathan B., a rising senior at SEM Townview. "It's such a massive, collaborative process." ๐๏ธ

James Proche (1/3) is back in Dallas and pouring right back into the community that helped shape him! He and Channel Three (channel three.) hosted a football camp for kids at St. Philipโs School and Community Center (St. Philip's School & Comm Ctr) teaching them the same hard work, discipline and consistency that got him to the NFL. Ruthieโs (Ruthieโs Fueled by Good ๐ง๐ฅช) even showed up with grilled cheese for the kids. Full circle moments like this are what Dallas Doing Good is all about!

After years of closure, the Natural History Museum at Fair Park is officially reopening its doors every Sunday! Fair Park Dallas first reopened the museum on Sundays during the World Cup, and the response was strong enough that they're keeping it going.
Fair Park says the decision came directly from community feedback, and we're glad to see it!

Feel Good Friday: Milestone alert! ๐พ Meet Tres Leches, the 3,000th kitten cared for by Operation Kindness's neonatal kitten nursery since it opened in 2022. He was rescued from Dallas Animal Services at just 21 days old, and he's now thriving in his foster home.
It's fitting that their celebration fell on National Kitten Day, right in the middle of peak kitten season, when the need for round-the-clock care is greatest.
Want to help the next 3,000? Sign up to foster (no experience needed) or send some love from their Amazon or Chewy wish list: https://bit.ly/4fvBORO

City of Dallas - City Hall celebrated a milestone for the disability community this month, as officials and advocates gathered at City Hall Plaza to raise the Disability Pride Flag.
The event follows the City Council's approval to fly the flag every July, a win championed by the city's Commission on Disabilities. Organizers say the move reflects the city's ongoing commitment to inclusion and visibility. โค๏ธ

Did you know Dallas is home to the largest urban forest in the United States? ๐ณ
The Great Trinity Forest covers more than 6,000 acres of bottomland hardwoods along the Trinity River, right inside city limits, and most Dallas natives have never set foot in it. Greenspace Dallas has been changing that since 2004, building natural-surface trails, improving access, and restoring the forest so that all Dallasites, especially those in historically underinvested neighborhoods nearby, can experience it.
This summer, explore the biggest wild place in any American city! Support Greenspace Dallas: https://bit.ly/4gNt6kl
