The Warning of Purim
The Hebrew Feast of Purim celebrates the deliverance of the Jews from a death decree in the ancient Persian Empire. It will occur on February 23 on the Christian lunar calendar and a month later, March 24, on the modern Hebrew calendar.
We all know the story. A beautiful Jewish girl, Esther, becomes Queen of Persia. The evil Haman convinces the King to order the death of the Jews. Esther risks her life to plead for her people. The King allows the Jews to defend themselves and it is the enemies of the Jews who are destroyed. And Haman is hanged on the gallows he built.
There are many lessons to be learned from the Feast of Purim. We see how God intervened in a desperate situation to save His people from destruction. The death of the enemy of the Jews, Haman, on his own gallows pictures the fate of God’s enemies. And the right at self-defense given to the Jews, which we call the Jewish Second Amendment, argues for the God given right of Christians to arm themselves to protect their families and churches from attack.
But the Feast also contains a warning, played out in the history of the Persian Empire, of the fate of nations which abandon their support of God’s people. For, at the beginning of the Persian Empire, the kings of Persia had befriended the Jews. Cyrus (538- 529 B.C.) freed the Jewish exiles to return to Jerusalem after he conquered Babylon. Darius (521-485 B.C.) supported and funded the building of the Second Temple. It was under Artaxerxes I (465-421 B.C.) that Ezra and Nehemiah returned and rebuilt Jerusalem. In return for Persian favor, the Jews were loyal allies of the Persians and formed a buffer against Egypt, which was as times an enemy and at times a rebellious province of Persia.
Things had changed by the reign of Artaxerxes II (404-358 B.C.) who is believed by some to be the King who married Esther. It is true that most commentators suggest that Xerxes (485-465 B.C.) was Esther’s King, but this belief is contradicted by ancient sources. Jewish historian Josephus places Esther after the events of Ezra and Nehemiah, which occurred under Artaxerxes I, and therefore much later the Xerxes. Historians associate the biblical name of Esther’s King, Ahasuerus, with Artaxerxes II, not Xerxes. There is also a striking historical similarity, for the wife of Artaxerxes II was poisoned by his mother in the third or fourth year of his reign. According to the Book of Esther, Queen Vashti was removed in the third year of his reign. There is even a linguistic similarity between “Vashti” and the Queen’s Persian name “Stateria” in the core “Shti” verses “Stat”.
Artaxerxes II proved to be a poor leader for the Persian Empire. He was of course very foolish for allowing himself to be manipulated by Haman into attacking his allies the Jews. In addition, the Persians began interfering with the Temple worship in Jerusalem and persecuted the Jews through an exorbitant temple tax for seven years. The King had to bribe the troublesome Greeks in 386 B.C. to obtain a period of peace with them. Then, the Egyptians revolted and gained independence, installing the last Egyptian Dynasty in 378 B.C. That same year Artaxerxes II suffered a major defeat from a rebelling province and barely survived a rebellion of Persian nobles. Clearly, the Persian Empire was beginning to fall apart.
The end came for Persia when their enemies the Greeks united under Alexander the Great and invaded the empire just 24 years after the reign of Artaxerxes II. The Jews had been reluctant to abandon their alliance with Persia, but when Alexander the Great marched toward Jerusalem they remembered Daniel’s prophecy that the Greeks would overthrow the Persians (Daniel 8:1-8;19-21). According to Josephus the high priest took Daniel’s prophesy to Alexander and Jerusalem was spared.
Persia was a great nation chosen by God to restore His people to Israel and re-build the Temple after their exile in Babylon. God blessed Persia with success but the nation allowed a spirit of anti-Semitism to take hold which, while defeated under Esther, came back as the Persians persecuted the Temple worship. In the end Persia experienced both sides of Abraham’s promise “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse“(Genesis 12:3). When they turned against the Jews God turned against them.
Like the Persians we Americans have been chosen by God to help make a place for His people who have returned to Israel after their long exile. God has blessed us mightily because of it.
But now the genocidal October 7, 2023 attack on Israel by Hamas has revealed a strong Haman Sprit trying to take hold in America. They have supported Hamas and threatened Jews living in America.
We must fight this anti-semitism at home and continue to stand with Israel or risk the same curse that fell on Persia.
Let us pray and rededicate ourselves to bless God’s people Israel this Purim season.

And let us not forget to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Unhappy New Year For China

This week on January 10 the Chinese New Year begins. It will not be a happy one.

The Authoritarian governmental model of China, once touted as the alternative to Western Democracy, has begun falling apart. The incompetence and tyranny of the Communist Party and dictator Xi Jinping have been exposed, and the Chinese people are suffering because of it.

Four years ago the Covid virus escaped from a laboratory in China, starting a worldwide epidemic. The Chinese locked down their population in an effort to eliminate the virus and were hailed as the model for Covid mitigation. Now we know that lockdowns cause great damage but do not stop the virus. The Chinese developed an inferior vaccine and when Covid returned to China the population had little natural immunity because of the lockdown policy. When the Communist Party attempted to reinstate the lockdowns there was massive public resistance. Fearing revolution, the Communists backed down and Covid marched through China.

China’s economy is still reeling from the effect of the lockdown policy. Overall economic growth in 2023 fell to its lowest level in decades, and China has quit reporting the bad news. We do know that in 2022 retail sales actually fell while manufacturing growth was under 4%. Unemployment is almost 6%, but among the young it has risen to about 17%. The real estate sector, once an engine of growth, has seen high profile bankruptcies and has weakened the banks. The Government has also clamped down on the entrepreneurs, further stifling growth. So the economy is in shambles and the illusion of Authoritarian efficiency has been exploded.

China is also reaping the fruit of its “One Child” policy, which required families to abort millions of children. The policy has now been abandoned but its effects remain. As a result, the Chinese population dropped in 2022 for the first time since the Communist induced famine of 1960 and may fall by half over the next decades. The population is also aging, meaning that economic growth will decrease, and more resources will be required from a shrinking pool of workers. With a shrinking economy and a shrinking population China will also experience shrinking military power and influence.

China is already experiencing global push back because of its aggressive foreign policies. Watching the Chinese Communists turn once free Hong Kong into a police state has stiffened the resolve of Taiwan to remain free. Japan has responded to the Chinese threat by abandoning the pacifist military policy it adopted after World War II. China’s other neighbors in Southern Asia are also banding together to oppose China. And China’s friends in Europe are rethinking their support after China supported Russia in the Ukraine Invasion.

Yes, 2024 is shaping up to be a tough year in China.

But there is still hope for the Chinese people, coming from the Chinese Christian Church. When the Communists took power in 1949 there were about 1 million Chinese Christians, and many expected the Church to disappear under persecution. But the Church offers hope and love, growing to over 100 million today. And despite a new wave of persecution under tyrant Xi Jinping, the Church continues to grow and demonstrate God’s love.

Let us, then, pray for our brothers in China that they will continue to boldly proclaim the gospel and that this wave of persecution will pass. Pray for their health and healing from Covid, prosperity in the face of a bad economy , and peace in China and abroad.

And, pray that American Church will learn from the Chinese Church and boldly stand for Christ and against Tyranny in America.

Prayers of Our Fathers

It has become fashionable in some circles to deny the Christian foundations of the United States. Next week, when we remember President’s Day, would be a good time to listen to the words of our national Fathers and join them in their prayers for America:

Benjamin Franklin: On the Need for Divine Guidance
“I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth – that God Governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid?
We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that ‘except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it.’ I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without his concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our partial local interests; out projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall become a reproach and bye word down on future ages.
And what is worse, mankind may thereafter from this unfortunate instance, despair of establishing Governments by Human wisdom and leave it to chance, war and conquest.

Abraham Lincoln’s Success Secrets

Next Monday, on February 12, we remember the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

Abe Lincoln was born poor on the raw American frontier in 1809. Yet he rose out of poverty and overcame many obstacles to achieve his destiny as one of the greatest American Presidents. He is a shining example of how an ordinary person can achieve his or her destiny, and he is our role model at Emancipation Network.

Like many of us, his first efforts to rise out of poverty ended in failure. But he believed, as Winston Churchill said, “Failure is never final.” He kept working and did not run away, even when some of his property was seized by his creditors. Instead, he switched careers, educating himself to become a lawyer. His early experiences in overcoming failure taught him well as he entered politics. He endured setbacks in 1848 when he was not selected to run for a second term in Congress, in 1856 when the New Republican party passed over him, and in 1858 when he lost his Senate race. But he never quit and was elected president in 1860. You should never quit either.

The failure of his business left him with a debt about the size of a small home loan in modern dollars. Lincoln decided to repay the debt, but he also knew that he could not let the debt destroy his destiny. Five years after the failure, in 1842, he married, and two years later, in 1844, he bought a house mostly with cash. Yet we know that he still owed the debt in 1848. We also know that he eventually paid the debt, earning the name “Honest Abe”. To achieve his destiny, he built his life before he paid his debt. You should do the same. Lincoln knew that he would need a strong financial base to achieve his destiny, so he began saving money. Like many of us his first big investment was his home, purchased with his savings and some debt in 1844. He had learned the proper use of debt, as leverage for the purchase of necessary assets. As his legal career advanced he worked for railroads and used his knowledge to invest in their bonds. By saving, judiciously using debt, and investing in what he knew, he did not become rich but he had enough to fund his destiny in politics. You too can have enough to achieve your destiny if you follow his example.

His experience with the bo***ge of debt left him with a strong sense of compassion for those in bo***ge. In 1842, after the U.S. passed its first bankruptcy laws, he became a bankruptcy lawyer. As a person familiar with the Bible, he would have understood that God invented bankruptcy (See Deuteronomy 15:1-18 and Nehemiah 5:1-13). He also understood that God provided freedom from slavery in the same way, and he eventually ended the sin of slavery in America. It was not what he made of himself that made him great, it was what he gave back. Giving is the ultimate success secret.

The Secret Climate Zealot Agenda

The secret agenda of climate zealots is finally being revealed.

For years Climate Zealots hid behind other excuses to push their agenda. Washing machines were regulated to “Save water”, and now they don’t clean very well. The same for dishwashers. Lately the Zealots have declared war on gas stoves using a bogus claim of health hazards “Discovered” after a century of gas cooking.

Zealots moved on electric power by promoting “renewable” energy with government subsides to wind and solar power. Now they plan to eliminate reliable coal and natural gas for “Zero Carbon” energy generation by 2050. But, as reliable energy sources have been decreased, the electric grid has become unreliable. Blackouts are common in California and hundreds have died from Green Energy failures in the winter.

The war on automobiles began with manipulation of auto mileage standards which were originally designed to limit the effects of the 1973 Arab oil embargo. Climate Zealots hijacked the mileage standard by setting unattainable goals, forcing automakers to sell unpopular electric vehicles at a loss. Electric vehicle subsidies followed, but those only helped rich people virtue signal with a second electric car and did little to bring electric vehicles into the mainstream. So climate zealots came up with another strategy: outlaw gasoline cars. Now in California, several states, and Europe no gasoline cars are to be sold after 2035.

The dirty little secret of these climate measures, as revealed by the University of California Climate and Community Project report, is that massive Green electrification of our homes, power grids, and autos will itself produce vast damage to the environment and undermine climate objectives. In addition, the quantities of minerals needed to make batteries are simply not available. So even electric cars are “incompatible” with climate goals. It turns out that the promises of a glorious Green Energy future are a deception. The climate and community project report brings the real agenda into focus: collapsing your standard of living.

Yes, they are coming for your household conveniences, ending your access to reliable energy, and taking your gasoline powered car. They are also planning to eliminate electric vehicles except for the privileged classes. The Climate and Community Project report limits your transportation options to walking, bicycling, and mass transit.

Next, they are coming for your home itself. Unless you want to bicycle 10 miles to work, you will be forced to live in smaller, densely packed apartments. Just like the apartment towers of Stalinist Russia. At least the poor Russians got heat most of the time, but you may not.

Climate Zealots believe that it is inequitable for you to live better than people in third world countries. Their agenda is to then turn America into a third world country. They see nothing wrong with making you handwash your clothes, freeze in winter and sweat in summer, lose mobility, live in a cramped apartment, and give up the American dream. To them you are not a person, you are a pollutant.

The tragedy is that the real climate science in concluding that there is no climate emergency at all. It was warmer 1000 years ago without bad consequences, and the consequences of this round of global warming can be managed easily.

The existential threat is not climate change. It is the Climate Zealot agenda which will destroy our nation if allowed to happen.

The American people still have the power to stop it if they will only wake up to the danger.

George Washington’s Secrets for Winning Your War of Independence

With George Washington’s birthday coming on February 22, we thought it would be a good time to apply some wisdom from the leader of America’s War of Independence to your financial war of independence.
Like you, George Washington faced a much stronger and richer opponent as he struggled to gain America’s freedom from oppression. Like your financial oppressors, his enemies were determined to fight against his efforts to gain freedom. Against the odds, Washington won and achieved his destiny, and so can you.
Paradoxically, the two events which prepared him to be a great general were two humiliating defeats he suffered in the French and Indian War. In his first outing as a commander, he was forced to surrender to the French. Later he was part of a British force decimated by the French and their Indian allies. However, he took charge and led the survivors in a fighting retreat which saved the force from total destruction. Washington teaches us that you can rise again from disaster. Adversity is a great teacher.
During the Revolution Washington put his lessons to work, knowing that you don’t have to win every battle, you just have to survive to fight again. His army was defeated again and again by superior enemy forces, as his volunteers fought the best professionals in the world, but he never quit. The Americans lost their largest city and their capital, like many of us who have lost jobs and homes. Yet Washington was able to preserve his fighting ability by not sacrificing all in a hopeless battle. He survived his losses, kept on trying, and was able to overcome his adversary at an opportune moment. And so can you.
Another lesson for us is the wisdom of reaching out for help when you need it. To fight the most powerful nation on earth, Washington sought a powerful ally, his old French enemy, to help him inflict a final defeat on his enemy at Yorktown. You, too, should look for allies in your war of independence. Allies like attorneys, accountants, and counselors who can help you get free. Chinese New Year and the Lunar Zodiac

On February 10, as the New Moon begins a new month on the Lunar Calendar, the Chinese and many Asian people will celebrate the beginning of a New Year.

For the Chinese, the movements of the Moon across the sky also define their Zodiac. Thus, instead of the dividing the sky into 12 sections based on the Sun’s path through the constellations, the Lunar Zodiac divides the sky into 28 sections based on the movements of the Moon against the stars. And, like its Solar cousin, the Lunar Zodiac is very ancient. The earliest Lunar Zodiacs follow the Solar Zodiac almost entirely, beginning in the Stars of Virgo and ending in the Stars of Leo. The message is also the same as the Solar Star Bible, with, for example, Star groupings from Virgo meaning “Desired Son”, Libra meaning “Redeeming”, Capricorn meaning “Sacrifice”, and Aquarius meaning “Out Pouring.” Thus, there is a 28 chapter Lunar Star Bible which also tells the story of Christ.

Over the ages the Chinese Lunar Zodiac has moved away somewhat from its ancient progenitor. The Chinese attempted to substitute their God King Emperor into the celestial place of Christ, believing that the Emperor came from the celestial region surrounding the North Pole. This region, which contains the constellation Draco the Dragon, explains both the spiritual root of Emperor worship, Satan the Dragon, and the Dragon National Emblem of China. Even so, the original message can still be found in about 75% of the 28 Lunar Zodiac “Mansions.” Thus, we see an Ox as a “Sacrificial Victim” in the stars representing the Scapegoat of Capricorn; an “Empty tomb” near the resurrection constellation Delphinus, a “Witness to the Drinking In” within the Pentecostal constellation Aquarius, and the “Warrior” from the Second Coming constellation Orion.

We also owe the Chinese a great debt because it was their astronomers who recorded the Star of Bethlehem in 5 BC and located it in the Lunar Mansion containing the bright star Altair (the Wounding). This information is vital because it in verifies the historicity of the Star of Bethlehem and allows us to locate its remains, the black hole X-1 Cygnus, which was at Zenith over Bethlehem in 5BC. One of the more attractive Chinese Lunar mansions contains the famous Pleiades Star Cluster which can be seen directly overheard after sunset tonight. To the Chinese the Pleiades means “Reunion with the Dead,” while a similar Star Bible meaning is attributed to the Pleiades and the nearby beautiful cluster of the Hyades, which both represent the earthly and the heavenly saints who will join in reunion when Christ Returns.

So tonight read the Star Bible in Chinese as you enjoy the Pleiades and their message of Christ’s Return.

The Stars of Pentecost

The constellation of the Holy Spirit, Aquarius (The Water Pourer), will slip behind the Sun on February 18.

Aquarius, the sixth chapter of the Star Bible, is a picture of a man pouring out an urn of water. Aquarius comes after the constellation Capricorn (The Goat) which pictures the sacrificial death and resurrection of Christ. After His resurrection Christ told His followers to wait for Him in Jerusalem to receive the Holy Spirit. Aquarius shows the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which is often represented by water, that began on Pentecost in Jerusalem.

The three constellations associated with Aquarius are Cygnus (The Swan), Pisces Austranis (The Southern Fish), and Pegasus (The Winged Horse). Cygnus contains the Northern Cross, including the black hole where the Star of Bethlehem was located. However, it also reminds us of Christ’s ascension from the Mount of Olives and the promise of His return in star names such as Azel (Who Goes and Returns Quickly) and Sadr (Who Returns in a Circle).

Pisces Austranis (The Southern Fish), is shown as a fish drinking the water poured out by Aquarius. The brightest star of Pisces Austranis, Formalhaut (The Mouth of the Fish), shows how the Believers evidenced the infilling of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost through their mouths by speaking in tongues.

Finally, Pegasus (The Winged Horse) tells us that the spiritual power represented by the Christ / Horse constellations of Centaurus (The Despised One) and Sagittarius (The Archer) is available to all believers now that Christ has returned to Heaven. The star named Algenib (The Carrier), reminds us how we have been carried along by the Spirit of the Lord (Isaiah 63:8-14).

As we look forward to the Return of Christ, we also note that Aquarius moves into the Spring Season when all four seasonal signs change in 2121 A.D. We are reminded that the Church Age, represented by the current occupant of the Spring equinox, Pisces (The Fish), will end when Christ Returns and we will worship God in Jerusalem as the Holy Spirit water represented by Aquarius pours out of the Temple. Of course, Aquarius is not visible to us now because the water of Aquarius is hidden in the fire of the Sun. However, right after sunset the constellation Pegasus (The Winged Horse) is visible just above the horizon. Pegasus, which is recognizable by the Great Square, would be best viewed through binoculars in the early evening twilight.

So don’t forget to tell someone about the stars of Pentecost and the opportunity to be carried along by the power of the Spirit.
