This is the face of insecurity; coated with the tainted nectar of ineffective quick fixes, and confusion. Drinking to me was a selfish exit plan disguised by a lie. I had convinced my self I was worthy of a celebration although I had achieved nothing worthy to warrant my destructive behavior. I’ve hurt many, burnt uncountable bridges, and nearly killed myself throughout 10 years of ruthless decision making.

Today, I am past my 1 year mark of sobriety. For better or worse, my thoughts are so incredibly clear that on somedays sobriety provides memories so vivid that all I can do is shake in disgust with who I was and who i have been in the past. This is so much apart of the journey of growth. I’m so incredibly grateful to feel the full spectrum of life and ALL it has to offer. I feel like me.

If you’re someone who thinks they might have an issue with drugs or alcohol, please feel free to reach out to me, even if it’s just to introduce yourself and chat lightly. I would have never been able to do this without the friends and family that stuck by my side through the best and the worst of it. Everybody needs somebody. ❤️
