Innovative consumer electronics company Curtis Mathes, Inc., based in Frisco, Texas, is proud to bring to market its first Energy Star and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) certified lamp for enclosed fixtures. The majority of LED Lamps are not intended for use in fully enclosed fixtures because the lamp’s life expectancy is dramatically shortened when it’s overheated. “What makes the Curtis Mathes A19 lamps unique is that they are specifically engineered to operate safely in totally enclosed environments such as jelly jars, wall sconces, ceiling mount fixtures, wall lanterns, and recessed downlight fixtures,” explains CEO and President Mike Chester. “Our lamps are designed to withstand the ambient heat that builds up inside lamp fixtures without sacrificing lumen maintenance. That’s a game changer.”

What makes Curtis Mathes A19 lamps unique in the marketplace is that they have passed both the Energy Star and the UL enclosed chamber tests. The lamps are versatile, suitable for both indoor lighting applications and outdoor shelters. They can be used in both dry and damp locations. The A19 lamps are rated for ambient temperatures inside the fixture of -4oF to 120oF. They are designed for 25,000 LED lumen life hours—22.8 years at three hours per day of usage or 5.7 years based on twelve hours per day of usage. The lamps have a limited five year replacement warranty.

“Energy Star is about making smart choices that help us use energy wisely,” adds Chester. “Curtis Mathis is pleased to be a voluntary part of the Environmental Protection Agency’s efforts to promote energy efficiency, saving energy and protecting the environment.” Since 1992, Energy Star has helped American consumers and businesses save $362 billion dollars in utility bills, an average of $14 billion annually.

These new A19 lamps are available in 2700K/3000K/4000K color temperature options, with a color rendering index of >82 and a beam angle of 230º. A selection of these lamps support dimmers.
