According to a recent report from Chron.com, the Port of Galveston says it is in discussions with an unspecified "major cruise line" that wants the port to build a fifth cruise terminal.

Galveston has already grown into the nation's fourth-busiest cruise port, with nearly 3.9 million passenger movements expected this year. The port recently updated its 20-year master plan, which includes additional cruise terminals and significant expansion projects.

Currently, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and MSC all have year-round operations in Galveston. With another major cruise line reportedly showing interest, it raises an interesting question...

One of my large family group cruises is flying cross country from Florida to Seattle tomorrow for Alaska... and their cruise departs the very SAME day.

The funny part... The group leader agreed with my recommendation to fly in a day early. Unfortunately, the rest of the group voted against it. 😂

So tomorrow I'll be watching flight trackers and saying a few extra prayers to the travel gods. 🙏

Would you trade your Mercedes-Benz car for a month on a Mercedes superyacht? 🛥️

Mercedes-Maybach has officially signed a deal with German shipbuilder Lloyd Werft to build Beyond Horizons, a 508-foot ultra-luxury superyacht expected to debut in winter 2029.

And this is not your typical luxury cruise ship. It’s being designed more like a floating private members club for a very small group of ultra-high-end travelers.

A few things that stood out to me:

✨ 30 identical suites
Each suite is expected to be nearly 800 square feet with a private balcony. What’s interesting is there won’t be one over-the-top owner’s suite at the top. Every member gets the same suite category and the same elevated experience.

✨ A second support yacht
Yes, really. There will be a separate 230-foot “shadow vessel” traveling with it to carry the toys and extras so the main yacht stays sleek and uncluttered. Think jet skis, tenders, water toys, and even a helicopter.

✨ Only 72 guests onboard
This is going to be a very intimate experience with a split-level infinity pool, fine dining, rotating culinary concepts, and a wellness-focused spa environment.

✨ Mediterranean summers + Caribbean winters
The plan is for Beyond Horizons to follow the sun, sailing in the Mediterranean during summer and the Caribbean during winter.

Now, membership for this particular yacht club is expected to be extremely exclusive, with only 300 members worldwide. So no, this is not going to be something most of us can just casually book online.

But if the idea of a more intimate, yacht-style luxury cruise sounds appealing, you do not have to wait until 2029.
