No distractions, just a Black-Chinned Hummingbird hovering at sunset - second image cropped for a detail.

Juvenile Yellow-Crowned Night Heron, taken in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. Watched this guy catching crabs for a good ten minutes - will post those pics soon!

Having this dedicated page has become irrelevant, since I typically post the same things on my personal feed and Instagram - so I’m just getting twice as many irritating notifications 🤪.
If you follow me here but not on my personal page, please feel free to connect with me on there.
I will be deleting this page within the next few days. Thanks!

The undisputed king of Richmond Park; his only adversary being other stags, competing for a doe.

A mature Stag is about the most majestic creature I have ever seen. This one is shading himself from the early morning sun, while the Eurasian Jackdaw goes to work on his ticks.

My first full Milky Way arch! Taken around 4am in Big Bend National Park, which has the darkest sky in the lower 48 states.

I like an interesting background on a sunny day as much as the next person, but an overcast day with no other distractions can put even light on a subject and really bring it to life.

Pics 1&2 were shortly after she launched from a tree, pic 3 is a heavily cropped shot of her just after she caught a fish way off in the distance. All shots on Sony A1 at 840mm.

Bald Eagle, part three.

Not as dynamic as the in-flight shots, but great to see them perched so majestically.

Bald Eagle stealing and replacing nesting materials.

According to some other locals, there’s a second female at the lake. And she wants into the family… She made a dive at the nest and stole this branch; circled for a while, then took a new branch and placed it into the nest. As if I didn’t already want to check-in on them daily - now I HAVE to see how the drama unfolds!

-
Worthy of note - the new female has a mark on her wing similar to what I saw on the male some months ago, so I remain skeptical; however, others have seen the three of them at the same time, which would indicate the marking is a coincidence. More shots coming tomorrow!

My favorite Kingfisher shots to date.

This sequence shows a belted Kingfisher just before it enters the water, then two shots of it emerging with a fish, then gliding across the water with its brunch.
