This is truly of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen in public service — in order to protect himself and avoid accountability, Ken Paxton is not only egregiously blaming the victim and his mother … he’s also lying to the people of Texas and to policymakers about the facts of the case itself.

I encourage you to read this deep dive in to the case, completed after a careful review of the trial records, transcripts and interviews with key individuals.

This is damning and disqualifying. Texans — especially victims and survivors — are right to be outraged and Ken owes us all an explanation.

Most notable are these direct quotes from the Victim’s Mother — directly refuting Ken Paxton’s dishonest attempts to lay the blame for this miscarriage of justice at the feet of her young son.

“We were put in an impossible situation. How do you trust the prosecution to go back to a case that they want to plead out when they’re the ones that are supposed to fight for it, and they don’t want to do it?”

At sentencing, the Judge asked the victim’s mother if she agreed to the proposed outcome in the case.

“No. It’s just not enough. He’s dangerous. This isn’t justice, and I can’t do it.”

Inside Ken Paxton’s plea deal for a child s*x abuse case Critics are pointing to two other serious felony cases that the attorney general’s prosecutors took to trial that ended in mistrials and, eventually, plea deals.

A wonderful night celebrating the nuptials of Karson and Sadie — the beautiful daughter of our best friend Dan, who passed away in 2021. And though Dan was deeply missed - as he is every single day - it was a perfect evening honoring two very special people and two very special families.

Our Great God showed up and showed out this evening in Allen! A powerful and beautiful reminder that He is good and that He has never - not once - broken a promise. Just amazing!

Glad to make it back in town today in time to hop in the dunk tank at Green Elementary Field Day! Landry went first and successfully dunked me — although his foot was clearly over the line. Make it a great weekend, friends!

While I was on the steps of the Waco courthouse this morning fighting to protect innocent children from s*xual abuse and exploitation, I was deeply honored to be recognized by the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County and Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas for my work to defend and support vulnerable children.

Although I could not attend in person, I’m grateful my District Director, Julie, was able to stand in my place and accept this recognition on my behalf.

Protecting children is not a partisan issue. It is a moral responsibility, and I will continue fighting every day to ensure Texas remains a place where predators are held accountable and children are protected.

Incredibly special to be present in Washington to watch the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously vote to pass the federal version of Trey’s Law that I passed with Senator Angela Paxton - sponsored by Senator Cruz - groundbreaking legislation empowering victims of s*xual abuse and assault. What started in the is truly changing the world — once again. Thanks to Elizabeth Carlock Phillips for your courage and devotion to honoring your brother, Trey. And thanks to Senator Cruz and Senator Cornyn — and to all of the over 20 Republican and Democrat Senate Sponsors — for making this happen.
