Both pathways are part of the same employment-based second preference category. They both offer a route to long-term U.S. permanent residency for individuals who have reached a high level of expertise in their field. The Traditional EB-2 Path: A Structured Sponsorship Model
This path is the standard employer-sponsored process. It is built around a defined, long-term relationship between an employee and a U.S. employer.
PERM Labor Certification: The employer must prove that no qualified U.S. workers are available for the position.
Wage Determination: The role must meet the prevailing wage for the specific area of employment.

Petitioner-Driven: You drive the case based on merit and impact, allowing for the waiver of the job offer and labor certification requirements. This model is built for professional mobility and independence, focusing on the continuity of your contributions to the U.S. national interest.
