We’re tired and we need to be honest.

We have received numerous messages asking when Rudy will be available for adoption. The truth is: we don’t know. We don’t even know yet why he is still sick.

Rudy came into rescue in January as a stray with a re**al prolapse. Since then, he has undergone a colopexy, multiple rounds of deworming, treatment for Campylobacter, extensive lab work, an abdominal ultrasound showing a thickened colon consistent with colitis, multiple antibiotics, probiotics, fiber, and GI and hydrolyzed diet trials.

Nothing has resolved his chronic diarrhea. Rudy continues to have frequent, urgent bowel movements with mucus, straining and sometimes blood.

This weekend, we finally saw Internal Medicine and spent another $1,052.10 searching for answers. We are now awaiting his intestinal dysbiosis testing. Depending on those results, his next steps may include a f***l transplant and potentially a colonoscopy with biopsies.

Until we understand Rudy’s condition and what his long-term medical needs may be, we cannot responsibly make him available for adoption.

We are an entirely volunteer-run rescue. Repeated messages—and especially phone calls after midnight—asking for adoption updates take time away from caring for the dogs who need us. When we have an update on Rudy, we promise we will share it.

What Rudy needs right now isn’t an adopter. He needs answers—and we need help getting them.

Despite everything, Rudy is still happy, bouncy and full of life. He just wants to run around the yard and play with his foster friends without constantly having to stop because of his stomach. ❤️

If you would like to help Rudy, donations toward his medical care and items from our Amazon Wish List—especially the endless supply of diapers this poor boy goes through—would mean the world to us.

☀️ Texas heat is no joke—especially for our flat-faced friends. 🐾🔥

With temperatures reaching the triple digits, it’s especially important to keep your Frenchie cool and know the warning signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Brachycephalic, or “flat-faced,” breeds like French Bulldogs have shortened airways that make it harder for them to cool themselves efficiently through panting. This means they can overheat much faster than other breeds, even during what may seem like a short period outside.

🌡️ During extreme Texas heat:
• Keep outdoor time short and limited to potty breaks
• Avoid walks and strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day
• Keep your Frenchie indoors in air conditioning whenever possible
• Always provide access to fresh, cool water
• Never leave your dog unattended in a vehicle—even for a few minutes
• Watch closely for excessive or rapid panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, discolored gums or tongue, loss of coordination, mental dullness, or collapse

🚨 Heat stroke is a medical emergency. If you suspect your dog is overheating, begin cooling measures and seek veterinary care immediately.

Your Frenchie doesn’t have to be outside for hours to become dangerously overheated. Know the signs, keep them cool, and when in doubt—bring them inside. ❤️🐶

Lots of love, alumni Kiwi

✨ Coco is officially available for adoption! ✨

Our sweet girl was born with a cleft lip and palate, but after evaluation by a specialist, it has been deemed cosmetic only. She’s thriving on dry puppy kibble and doing great!

Coco does have severe separation anxiety, so she will need a home (no apartments) where she won’t be left alone for long periods.

Think Coco might be your perfect match? Submit an adoption application today—even if you’ve applied with DFW French Bulldog Rescue before. 🩷

🇺🇸❤️ Happy Fourth of July from Foster Bowie, his foster sister River, and everyone at DFW French Bulldog Rescue! We hope you have a wonderful day celebrating with family and friends and enjoy the holiday safely.

As we head into the evening, please remember that fireworks can be incredibly loud and scary for our pets. Make sure your dogs are safely indoors, and take a moment to double check that their microchip information is current and up to date in case they become frightened and escape.

Have a fun, safe, and happy Independence Day! 🇺🇸🐾
