If your yard is feeling dry and dusty, in 1911 Dallas had a similar problem! Suffering from a major drought for months, at one-point residents were told the city only had a 15-day water supply. To conserve water for fire emergencies, the mains were routinely shut off for all but 1 hour of each day. Residents could telephone the water department to request more water, which would arrive via tanks mounted on mule-drawn wagons. They would fill up tubs left in front yards, which can be seen happening here in a neighborhood near where the Cedars is today.
