Today, June 19th, commemorates the day when news of the Emancipation Proclamation was finally delivered to enslaved people in Texas--two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been made official. This day marks a significant milestone in our nation's history, and reminds us of the ongoing fight for justice and equality. As we reflect on the progress that has been made, we must also recognize the work that still needs to be done. We must continue to strive for a more just and equitable society, where every person is valued and respected regardless of their race or ethnicity.
