i (Mattie here) spent a few beautiful days in Harlem working alongside my friend and sister, Brooke .

i poured into her clients, laughed a lot, created a lot, and what you’re looking at here is Brooke’s seven-hour blonde transformation. and yes… we colored her locs too. those are coming later, and trust me, the magic is only getting wilder from here.

this trip reminded me that collaboration is sacred.

so many artists spend their lives protecting their gifts.

but i’ve found that gifts multiply when they’re shared.

there are some things you can only make with people who believe what you believe.

i’m so grateful to be collaborating with the magical brooke.

and if you’ve been dreaming about finding your perfect blonde while keeping your curls healthy, we’ve been quietly refining new techniques and discovering new ways to honor texture while creating brightness.

i’ve opened a few transformation spaces for June.

not for everyone.

just for the those who’ve been sitting with the feeling of change for a while.

i had a quick turn around trip, but it was full of love and curly | afro magic

from the afro babies that were in the room, to the wash and go demos, to the curly | afro panel discussion, to the blonding that i got the chance to do on my bestie , it was pure Magic!

🍃 Minnie Little! you are such a visionary and builder of communities and the people in it!

i’m so thankful to know you, be friends, and vision partners with you! i don’t take what happened this weekend lightly.

you make it look easy, but i know firsthand that it wasn’t. i know that you stayed up late nites, skipped meals, cried real tears, and probably closed relationships that didn’t have the capacity to walk with you through this creation!

i salute you, and all of the women who came before you, that are now assisting you in this vision!
