Saturday’s Community Development Bus Tour began at The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center. This centralized hub delivers low-barrier services, including emergency shelter and healthcare, to single adults experiencing homelessness in Dallas. We are proud to highlight how grant funding and City-County partnerships support these structured pathways toward long-term stability and permanent housing.

Welcome home to Armonia! 🏠 On Thursday, April 9, we celebrated the future of West Dallas housing with an Open House and Ribbon Cutting at the Armonia Multifamily Housing Development. We were honored to have Laura For Dallas join us to celebrate this Dallas City Homes project, which provides 15 units of high-quality, stable housing for seniors and working families. This project is a prime example of smart-growth redevelopment preserving long-term affordability in District 6.

Wednesday, April 8, marked a major milestone for National Community Development Week 2026. Mayor Eric L. Johnson officially proclaimed the week in the City Council Chambers! A special thank you to Chad West for presiding over the proclamation reading and for his continued leadership. This ceremony honored the dedicated Community Development Commissioners and staff whose stewardship ensures HUD funding reaches the residents who need it most.

Supporting our local childcare providers! On Tuesday, April 7, of National Community Development Week 2026, the City of Dallas hosted an impactful workshop at the Dallas Public Library J. Erik Jonsson Central Library. This was a wonderful collaborative effort with Dallas County Judge Clay Lewis and ChildCareGroup to help providers navigate the property tax exemption process. By helping these essential small businesses reduce operational costs, we are directly investing in the economic mobility and long-term stability of Dallas families. A special thank you to Council Member Jesse for Dallas for stopping by to support our District 2 providers!

We are wrapping up National Community Development Week with a bang! 💥 Today marks the last day of , and we are spending it on our Annual Community Development Bus Tour!

Our journey takes us to The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center, South Dallas Cultural Center,and Bonton Farms to see firsthand how CDBG and HOME programs strengthen our city’s social and physical vitality.

National Community Development Week continues! Today, we are featuring the Armonia Multifamily Development Open House. Situated near the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, Dallas City Homes created this "pocket-style" community to meet the urgent need for housing in the La Bajada neighborhood. This project is a vital part of West Dallas's story, turning disinvested land into fertile foundations for residents and essential workers.
