I could almost hear Ron telling me to buy these when I was at Walmart earlier.

Sometime around 1990 I started bugging Ron about buying some of his old promo pieces, especially his punk and new wave stuff. Ronnie knew what music I liked (just like he did with all us regulars) and showed me some of the stuff he had in the back room. One of the things he said he could part with was this poster from 1977.

It has been to quiet for too long on this page. If anyone wants to share stories about Ronnie or Hit Records feel free. I'll share one in the next post.

I met Ron in 1988 as his sales rep from Southwest Wholesale in Houston. We remained close all those years, especially after I moved to Dallas in 1991 and was in marketing and promotions with Big State/INDI. The day Ron called me and said, "hey can you come by the store so we can talk? I'm sick. I need to close and I need you to put together a closing sale for me." (He was very adamant that it NOT be, "Going out of business.") will be a day i will never forget.
I went. One of the hardest days in my life, as were the days and weeks to come. But we started the process. If you know, dammit, knew, Ron, you know this was not a simple task!
During the planning stages, I asked Ron if he was okay with me starting a FB account under the stores name, posting all the information and keeping everyone informed. He was reluctant, but finally said, "sure. Do it." To Ron and my surprise, his friend Paul and his daughter Amy had already created one, YEARS earlier. I asked permission to become an Admin, and well, the rest is history. The posting began.
This week I am in a city that Ron loved and visited yearly; New York City. My husband and I went to a Yankees game last night. Ron adored his Yankees! I've reflected and remembered. Especially while sitting in Yankee Stadium last night.
When I made rhe decision to leave the music industry in 1996, to become a mom, there were many times Ron would say, "how can you leave something you know and love so much!?!" My response was always the same, "I've not left. Music will always be a huge part of my life. It just won't be the ONLY thing in my life."
I haven't been an active admin on the Hit Records FB page in well over a year. Different reasons. With this all said, Ive decided t's time to say goodbye. Life's a journey, not a destination and this part of my journey is complete. Paul and Amy will continue, as they have. Ron is gone. Hit Records is gone. Larry Satterfield is gone. I will keep the memories alive always, within, and know that Paul and Amy will keep the Hiit Records FB alive and active, just as they did before Ron and I jumped in.
Peace, love and always, Rock 'n Roll. Dream until your dreams come true.

We all know how broken up inside Ronnie would be about the death of David Johansson.

I was finally getting around to re-framing Iggy and had to stop and admire Ronnie's old stamp. Our friend was a hell of a good man, and I miss him daily.

Well, I had a little Ron moment, this morning. My battery in my car fob is low so I went to my spot where I keep my spare fob. Ron gave me this when I got my new car, saying, in perfect Ron Ross form, "don't say I never gave you anything!" He wasn't one to mix words or get very sentimental but I loved him a ton. He was my friend.
