I remember it all too well the first time I discovered a set of midcentury brass flatware from Thailand.

These sets were handcrafted in Thailand during the Vietnam War era. American soldiers often visited Bangkok while on R&R and bought many souvenirs to bring home including custom clothes, jewelry, art and these flatware sets.

Because they were so common, many of these souvenirs don’t hold a lot of value to collectors, but in my opinion they are a piece of history that is both beautiful and useful. And what a great conversation starter for your next gathering!
