In the latest episode of Too Big To Fail, we sit down with Justin, Fleet Operations Manager at Moss Utilities, to pull back the curtain on what it takes to keep a massive utility construction operation moving smoothly.
Justin brings nearly 12 years of Army experience to the team, finding a natural crossover between military precision and the hard-working, tight-knit culture of the construction industry.
Fleet operations might not always look flashy, but they are the backbone of the field. If a critical machine goes down, the entire job slows down. Justin shares how his team supports our field crews every single day.
Tune in to the full episode to hear more about Justin’s transition to Moss Utilities, the realities of heavy equipment management, and how we are building the premier fleet in DFW.

Meet Kevin, a vital member of our team who keeps our fleet safe, maintained, and ready for the road.
As a Shop Tech with nearly a decade of mechanical experience, Kevin has spent the last two years ensuring the service trucks and equipment at Moss Utilities are always in peak condition.
While Kevin actually works alongside several of his own family members, he notes that the "family-first" mentality extends to the entire company. As a father, he deeply appreciates how Moss respects and accommodates his personal schedule.
When asked what advice he would give to someone stepping into a new role at Moss, Kevin emphasized the power of teamwork and humility, "Trust the process and believe in yourself. Stay humble, help each other out no matter what position you are in, and put in the work. Moss will definitely do the same for you."
Thank you, Kevin, for your dedication, your mechanical expertise, and for embodying what it means to be !

The Moss Utilities crew is officially on-site and moving dirt in Sunnyvale! We are proud to build the critical underground infrastructure for three brand-new commercial warehouses.
Our crews are making massive headway in the pipe laying phase. Serving a commercial hub of this scale requires a highly durable, high-capacity utility network. Day by day, our team is successfully installing a complex mix of RCP and PVC lines across the site.
Here is a look at the scope by the numbers:
Water Main: 7,845 Linear Feet (3" to 8")
Storm Drainage: 5,510 Linear Feet (8" PVC to 48" RCP)
Sanitary Sewer: 1,350 Linear Feet (6" and 8")
Fire Line: 535 Linear Feet (6", 8", and 10")
Precast Structures: 19 total junction boxes (ranging from 3'x3' to 6'x6') and 2 pond outfall structures.
Handling complex site conditions is exactly what our team does best. On this job, we are smoothly managing heavy groundwater and significant elevation changes.
Safety is always our absolute priority on every job site. By utilizing engineered shoring plans with trench boxes and hydraulic shores, we keep our crew completely secure while delivering a successful, top-tier installation.
At Moss Utilities, family isn’t just a word we use internally. It is one of our core foundational values.
We were incredibly honored to serve as a sponsor and volunteer for the Habitat for Humanity 2026 Women Build program. Our team hit the site early in the morning, bringing plenty of grit and determination to construct a brand-new home for a family in Dallas Texas.
Thank you to Patti Fisk and the incredible hospitality team at Dallas Habitat for keeping our crew cool, hydrated, and motivated throughout the day.
Let's keep building.

From starting out in a graduating class of just 70 people in the tiny town of Coahoma, Texas, to managing complex project finances for Moss Utilities, Aubrey embodies the very definition of Moss Fuerte.
Aubrey isn't someone who waits around for an opportunity to knock; she builds the door. In just three years, she has climbed the ranks, moving from customer service rep, AP assistant, and AR manager to her current role as a project accountant.
When asked what advice she would give to team members looking to expand their skills and advance within Moss Utilities, Aubrey shared this powerful piece of wisdom: "You are your own biggest spokesperson. You can’t have anything unless you ask. When you feel like you're in a stagnant place, ask for opportunity, work hard, and say 'yes' to the branches you can add to your tree of knowledge, even if they scare you."
Thank you, Aubrey, for your relentless drive, your rapid-fire learning, and your commitment to always pushing the boundaries of what you can achieve. We are so proud to have you on the Moss team!
Moss Fuerte, Aubrey!

Here at Moss, we take team wellness to the next level. That is why we are thrilled to feature Dr. Matt. He is our amazing in-house chiropractor!
Dr. Matt's journey with us began when a mutual friend connected him with our leadership team. After seeing the amazing benefits of regular chiropractic care, the Moss family brought Dr. Matt’s wellness expertise directly into the office.
When he isn't in the clinic, Dr. Matt loves spending time outdoors with his blended family of six kids. They frequently enjoy hiking, fishing, and camping together. For some solo time, he loves hitting the trails on his mountain bike.
