Top 3 Must Know Moving Tips
1. Call the utility companies as soon as you know you’re moving. Lets stay one step ahead of the game.
2. Stuff hanging clothes into garbage sacks while still on the hangers. This will help keep them clean and organized.
3.If there are fragile items in the box, be sure to mark it FRAGILE!!!!
4.Make yourself a moving key. A moving key is a guideline that will direct your movers, family and other help where to put boxes and small labeled furniture.

MOVING TIPS FROM AAA!!!

Reserve parking spaces
If you are moving to an apartment building or a home with limited parking availability, be sure to make arrangements for parking ahead of moving day. Check with the complex, city or your neighbors to reserve space for the moving truck and any other vehicles that will need to park at your old and new homes the day of the move to avoid any conflicts or tickets.

Use cling wrap for liquids
It’s always frustrating to open a box of toiletries or cleaning products to find that one (or more) of its contents has leaked all over the box. An easy fix for this is to wrap each item in cling wrap, an inexpensive plastic wrap that will prevent liquids from escaping. It’s a quick, cheap step that will save you a lot of headache!

Plan out your meals
With all that you have to worry about during a move, what you eat often becomes an afterthought. To stay healthy and nourished during your move without having to think about what you’re going to eat, plan out your meals ahead of time.

Color code your boxes
Inventorying your items during a move is a must to keep everything organized and easier during the unpacking stage. We recommend taking it an extra step and color coding your boxes, as well, according to room. (Check the image above)

Hire sitters
Moving day can get a little chaotic. If you have small children or pets, hiring sitters for them is the best way to keep them comfortable and entertained while you keep your complete focus on the move.

A few more helpful moving tips from the folks at AAA!

1.Cover open kitchen spices and pantry items with plastic wrap and tape them closed using painters tape to keep your spices from spilling over and making a mess or ruining your box.

2. When you arrive at your new home, unpack BY ROOM. The unpacking process will feel more manageable.

3. Remember to label the SIDES of the boxes, not the tops. This way, you’ll be able to identify them even if they’re stacked.

4. If you can, show up to your new home before the move and pre-clean the bathroom and kitchen. If you're not much of a cleaning type... give us a call.

HERE AT AAA MOVING SOLUTIONS; WE SHRINK-WRAP AND PAD ALL FURNITURE WHILE MOVING TO BE SURE THAT NOTHING GETS DAMAGED!!!

Here are a list of things most at risk when moving...

Glassware, China, and Pottery

All your fragile, breakable items are at high-risk of damage during a move if they aren’t properly packed and handled. This commonly includes glassware, china, and pottery. You should use thick, small boxes for these items which you can buy inserts for that will keep glasses and dishes protected. Use thick packing paper and bubble wrap to keep everything secure and fill in gaps to prevent shifting during transit.

Mirrors
Both the glass and frame of a mirror can get scratched, chipped, or shattered without the right care. The best solution is to use boxes that are made to fit the size of your mirror. Wrap the mirror in packing paper and bubble wrap, then fill in any gaps in the box with paper. If you can’t find boxes of the correct size, wrap the mirror in bubble wrap and heavy moving blankets and tightly secure with tape or string.

Paintings and Artwork

The last thing you want is one of your valuable pieces of art ruined during a move with a hole or scratch. Like mirrors, wrap the art in packing paper and bubble wrap, then use moving boxes that are close to the size of the piece. Fill in any gaps with paper to prevent shifting. If you have a particularly valuable piece of art, you may want to consider hiring professional packers (which is a service we offer).

Don't Let This Be You....
Here are 5 Tips on Picking A Good Mover!

1. Check Up On Them
You can also check a company’s complaint history with consumer agencies. Reading online reviews can give you more insights as well.

2. Watch For Red Flags
There are plenty of warning signs that you may not be dealing with a professional moving company, such as:
The company’s website has no local address.
They answer the phone in a generic way (such as “Hello, movers”).
You’re asked to sign incomplete or blank documents.

3. Do A Walk-Through
If the company doesn’t offer or won’t consent to an onsite inspection of your home and the stuff to be moved, that’s a big red flag. Insist that they do a thorough walk-through of your home to determine the size and scope of the move before giving you an estimated price. Be sure to point out any high-value items, which could affect the price.

4. Discuss Payment
Does the company accept only cash? Do they require a large deposit? These are huge red flags. To help protect yourself, consider using your credit card to pay for the move; that way, you’ll be able to contest the charge should something go wrong.

5. Figure Out Logistics Early
Get as many details as you can, like the arrival time on moving day and when your stuff will be delivered.
