No, your employees do 'NOT' understand nor apply this concept to their every day practice, whether on or off the clock. Need proof? A casual scroll down your social media feed, YouTube or Google search proves it.

Whether caught stealing, caught in a case of road rage, caught on police bodycam and posted online for a DUI, caught on a restaurant's CCTV in a drunken outburst, caught on a neighbor's phone blowing up over a code compliance issue, caught throwing a tantrum over their coffee order not being made-to-order, etc. we've all seen these examples and more.

And what happens 'off-the-clock' can still have on-the-clock consequences impacting staffing, operations, morale, productivity, profits and public image for you, their employer. For and alike, this should concern you. But what is the answer?

The same principles applied by our schools who teach 'OUR' kids about a myriad of social ills now falls upon you, the employer, to do the same for the adults under your employ. It is about education and training if we're talking behavior modification -- but one that takes more of an approach of critical thinking that benefits 'them' -- not just 'you.' That's the only way it will work.

For or any interested, let's talk. The training we're talking about is not expensive, and absolutely not NEARLY as expensive as the domino effect mentioned above if 'NOT' proactively addressed.

And to any forward thinking or carrier who understands these ripple effects and wishes to help your commercial clients mitigate the same, I do offer presentations to managers, owners, administrators and executives as well. Let's talk.

I know someone who can help.

For those in , the video below probably seems only 'slightly' exaggerated. You have seen it play out in real life. For those in , you deal with the aftermath. For the that has neither of these positions on staff -- good luck!

You'll never avoid the situations you never see coming. "Spotting trouble" requires assessing both visual and audio cues, it means knowing your people, it means training and educating so that security is a mindset -- not a department or onsite guard.

To that end, I offer both online courses (link below in comments) as well as onsite to help HR, Risk Management and business owners hopefully avoid, but at least mitigate such concerns, risks and liabilities.

And for the forward thinking or carrier, I can also offer some "preferred pricing" to your commercial clients for the same, just ask.

I know someone who can help.

Oh, the stories I can tell in relation to 'THIS' one! Whether we're talking physical attacks, data breaches or fiscal con artists, you cannot simply "judge the book by its cover." And why is this approach so effective?

If you're a man, you don't typically ("typically") expect an attack from a woman, but if you're a woman you not only do not expect to be attacked by another woman, you often see another woman as an ally. And let's also factor in the elderly or teens/kids into the equation. Again, I have so many stories I can relay here from actual audience members over the years telling me how they or a close family member was duped by such approaches.

The problem is we stereotype versus profile, the former having to do with appearances while the latter has more to do with behaviors. There are behaviors to look for, verbiage to listen for, but who teaches such things and where can they be learned?

I offer both online courses that do just that as well as, of course, in-person instruction as well. For and alike, this is also how you reduce your internal risks related to physical, data and reputational harm. So for my and any out there seeking to reduce your vulnerabilities and/or liabilities, let's talk.

And for any or carrier, company or agency tired of paying out claims, settlements and judgements related to such approaches being applied to your commercial as well as personal lines clients, let's talk about educating them as well.

I know someone who can help.

I was just invited to present the ASIS International NTX chapter this August, a day after addressing the RIMS (Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc.) Texas Regional Conference in San Antonio. Even more interesting, it is the same topic at 'BOTH' events.

What is that topic? Once again, it is as this has become a break-out topic in my offerings over the past year. I always dealt with it to some degree, but due to so many industries and professions being impacted by their employees' online and offline activities, activism, behaviors or questionable, controversial or even criminal behaviors, it has become a major point of and alike for . Why?

When an employee has to be disciplined or terminated, this impacts the areas of staffing, operations, morale, productivity, profits and public image combined as well as simultaneously. All of these areas have dollar figures attached. And if done improperly, the blowback can be settlements I've posted over the past week awarded to employees for $225K, $485K and even $4M due to "wrongful dismissal/termination." It is a plaintiff attorney's dream case.

If you are a or , I welcome your inquiries in employee training regarding this topic.

I (and ASIS and RIMS) know someone who can help.

Kaukauna teacher fired over social media post about presidential shooting 06/01/2026

As I continue to post on these stories involving people being fired over their activity or activism, I have cited several recent examples of employees winning court cases against their employers that terminated them. Why is this different?

One standout statement was, "Following the hearing, the Board upheld the decision to terminate Mr. Meyer’s employment due to 'violations of Board policy' and the significant disruption caused by his social media post." That key phrase, "violations of Board policy," I believe speaks to why this case differs from those prior cases as the one thing those did 'not' mention was any type of policy in place that was violated. Get the message?

For those in or seeking the legal and moral high ground, there needs to be a policy in place that defines acceptable and non-acceptable behaviors. Even better, education, training or communication that provides elaboration 'on' that policy.

The and professions have probably served the bulk of what I've seen of these stories, but I've also personally heard the same from those I work with in the sectors in local government. But 'ANY' employer today could find themselves in such a scenario given the utter lack of instruction, education and training as it pertains to employees' online activities today.

In my online courses, I address this, but for more of a deep-dive approach I do offer specific in this arena for and interested.

And for any or carrier, company or agency seeking to help your commercial clients mitigate or even potentially avoid such liabilities, let's talk as I do offer presentation at the manager, administrator, owner and executive level.

Self-Defense Expert questions, "Lightning never strikes twice." - Part 1 of 4 06/01/2026

I have definitely seen and heard the video below play out from victims I have spoken to over the years, whether instances of physical violence or fiscal exploitation (usually tied into relationships).

There is a 'scent' that such individuals project that certain predators can pick up on all-too-well. Those who have such readily identified vulnerabilities should be encouraged to seek professional help, otherwise the cycle will continue if not worsen.

Spare yourself or a loved one from such harm by making sure they get the help they need. This one is not in my wheelhouse other than from the predator/prey dynamic, professional counseling is what I am advocating here.

My first stab at using an A.I. platform so be kind in your critiques as it is the 'content' that I want you to focus on versus the production. I just wanted to see how this might translate.

This is about and what 'I' contribute to the conversation. I do not -- DO NOT -- address cyber security as such. Why? It changes daily! Rather, I address the more time-tested methods of social engineering that have been used throughout 'human' history to garner information, property, possessions, money and more. Human behavior, as opposed to technology, has not changed in eons. And these approaches are the silent killers as most are rarely detected until the damage is done. We all know 'hindsight' is 20/20 -- but what of foresight?

For those in and seeking to address these glaring gaps in data security, let's talk. My online courses allow for this or we can offer in-person instruction as well.

And for any carrier, company or agency seeking to help your commercial clients mitigate such risks, let's discuss a presentation to your client managers, owners, administrators and executives to widen their current aperture to such concerns and liabilities.

Ball State University Employee Fired for Criticizing Charlie Kirk Receives $225,000 in Settlement 05/30/2026

I keep warning those in and alike about the need for proper documentation, investigation and due diligence in cases.

Full story linked below -- and worth reading. It also cites other similar cases and settlements.

There is the kneejerk response, but then there is the calculated response. Unfortunately it has been the former ruling the day in most of these instances which are now having major financial blowback on the employers that terminated the individuals without those needed elements referenced above.

While I do advocate for the more typical, standard and measured protocols of social media agreements and/or codes of conduct used in employee handbooks or addendum agreements, nothing beats actual communications, education and training to avoid many of these cases now finding their way into both court and the court of public opinion.

I do offer some of this in my online courses, but offer more in-depth training via in-person staff instruction -- and for FAR LESS than (a) you probably think and (b) the result of these cases and settlements. In many/most cases for $5K or less for a full day of repeated presentations/training. Think about that.

And for any or carrier, company or agency interested, I also offer similar presentations/versions for managers, admins, executives and similar in value-add client presentations, just ask.

Over the years, I have worked with firms and other to educate their clients, commercial and personal lines alike. Why?

Whether online or offline, most scams boil down to one simple dynamic -- a good story. This story can be a more immediate approach such as we've all seen and heard about outside banks, at ATMs, via email/phone/text scams, etc. But to get the REAL dollars, the stories are more sophisticated and typically are revealed over time. In other words, these victims are groomed.

For the above professions, I do offer several programs of potential interest: (1) "Luring Your Money" and (2) "Once Upon A Crime!," either/both of which touch on this topic.

"Luring Your Money" also in a version for the or to educate 'you' and your team on lifestyle changes, investment changes, buying changes, etc. that could speak to that more long-term grooming aspect. It also deals with generational approaches where children or even grandchildren are unwitting participants in the "story."

If interested in either/both of these presentations, let's talk. I also offer this for any personal lines who might have interest.

Another case of poor , though this one is a bit different for me regarding its intent.

Nothing nefarious here, but it does point out what I consistently say to and alike today, that is, if you're going to let someone go...you'd better have the paper trail to back up "why" today. You can do it, but just be prepared for if not done correctly. This $4M judgement illustrates why.

In most such cases I address, it is over misbehaviors, actions, activities or activism, though sometimes other offline behaviors caught on camera that to viral too. But employees fired over these are now firing back...and winning in a number of recent cases.

In both online courses as well as in-person instruction, I cover a number of things to help you better instruct your people. Spending is not one of them but social media certainly is, particularly with the toll it is taking on fields such as and interests to name a "few."

And if you are an or carrier, company or agency seeking to help your commercial clients avoid such litigation, claims, judgements or settlements, let's talk.

I know someone who can help.
