See you in D.C. next week at the Points of Light Conference!

Our very own CEO, Rachel Currie Triska, will be hosting a session on Tuesday that you do not want to miss. 😮

How can volunteers move beyond service to become catalysts for systemic change?

Developed by VolunteerNow in partnership with SMU, The Impact Grid is an affective, immersive learning tool designed to build empathy, reveal the real-world constraints nonprofits face, and highlight the power of multi-sector collaboration.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will experience The Impact Grid firsthand—stepping into the perspectives of Opportunity Youth and the organizations that serve them. Together, corporate and nonprofit participants will navigate the complex systems surrounding social challenges, gaining a deeper understanding of how strategic volunteerism and cross-sector partnerships can drive sustainable impact.

Co-created with 50 nonprofits, Fortune 500 companies, B Corps, philanthropic foundations, and more than 100 community members, The Impact Grid tells authentic stories that inspire action and fuel volunteers who change the world for good.

We can't wait to see you there! 👋

At this year’s Hearts of Texas Luncheon, we were proud to honor Hope Restored Missions with the Ruth Collins Sharp Altshuler Award—recognizing their powerful, people-centered approach to transformation through volunteerism. 👏

Hope Restored Missions meets individuals where they are, walking alongside them with both compassion and accountability. Through holistic case management, critical document recovery, housing navigation, employment support, and strong community partnerships, they remove the barriers that stand in the way of forward progress—creating real pathways to sustainable independence.

But what sets HRM apart is how they activate volunteers. There’s no filler work—volunteers are placed directly into meaningful roles that make an immediate impact: answering phones, cooking meals, and preparing kits for street missions. At HRM, transformation goes beyond services. It’s about restoring confidence, rebuilding trust, and reminding people that change is possible. ❤️

TIME100 Philanthropy: Lyda Hill 05/15/2026

Congratulations Lyda Hill on your recent recognition as a Time 100 Philanthropist, an honor celebrating the world’s top givers, advocates, and thinkers driving global charitable initiatives. 👏

Ms. Lyda Hill has been a fierce supporter of VolunteerNow for more than forty years. Since 1984, Lyda has helped fuel innovation in volunteerism, consistently championing bold ideas that connect people to purpose. Her vision has always been clear—find a way to bring people together through meaningful volunteer connections.

In 2013, that vision became reality with a transformative investment from generous philanthropists—led by Lyda Hill—reimagining volunteerism for a new generation.

Together, we launched VOLY.org, a digital platform designed to make volunteering easier, more accessible, and more powerful than ever before. Technology became the bridge between passion and purpose.

Because of leaders like Lyda, VolunteerNow continues to evolve—building innovative solutions that mobilize VolunteerPower™ and connect neighbors to real, life-changing service.❤️

Don't miss our next training happening tomorrow! 👇🏽
A Nonprofit Guide for Background Check Protection

Your volunteers are often the first point of trust with the people and communities you serve. Knowing who is representing your mission matters. Effective screening isn’t about creating barriers — it’s about creating safe, informed, and responsible volunteer engagement. When done thoughtfully, background checks help protect your organization, build community trust, and create a safer experience for everyone involved.

This training provides nonprofit organizations with a clear, practical understanding of how to use background checks responsibly while protecting both their organization and the individuals they serve. Participants will learn key compliance requirements, best practices for screening volunteers and staff, and how to handle sensitive information securely.

At our annual Hearts of Texas Luncheon we honored the incredible Cynt Marshall with the Lifetime Achievement Award. After hearing from Cynt Marshall, one thing is clear—her heart for service didn’t start with her… it was passed down. It began with her grandmother. It lives on through her mother, who at 90 years old is still actively serving her community.

In the Marshall household, serving others isn’t a suggestion—it’s a requirement. It’s how you live. It’s what it means to lead a purposeful life. With her natural humor, deep friendships, and genuine love for people, Cynt captivated every person in the room. But more than that, she challenged us. Her legacy isn’t just about the paths she’s paved— it’s about the lives she’s touched along the way. Because as she reminded us: It’s not enough to leave footprints. You have to leave fingerprints. 💓

So we’ll ask you the same question she asked us— Where are you serving? Whose life will you touch?
