1866: First black female to enlist in the Army❤️

As per Army website I found a Lil history. Williams enlisted in the Army using the name William Cathay, Nov. 15, 1866. She informed her recruiting officer that she was a 22-year-old cook. He described her as 5' 9", with black eyes, black hair and black complexion. An Army surgeon examined Cathay and determined the recruit was fit for duty, thus sealing her fate in history as the first documented black woman to enlist in the Army even though U.S. Army regulations forbade the enlistment of women. She was assigned to the 38th U.S. Infantry and traveled throughout the West with her unit.

Happy Sunday!!! I tell you the last few days I had no choice but to take time for myself due to oral surgery. The doctor told me to rest, no exercise, don’t talk too much, and take my meds. Being in and out of bed all day is just not me, but truth be told, I needed it.
I used my time to rest, meditate, pray, and read. I am thankful for my husband for taking care of me and driving me where I needed to go and my son checking in on me.
So take care of your SELF. Take the time.

Nothing can keep me from it!!! Ok face swollen from oral surgery. Grateful I have a local specialty coffee shop I can walk to because I am under the influence of some good pain meds.
I walked home, but it felt like I floated down the street.
No caffeine, so pumpkin chai latte by . Happy Saturday folks.
