Today, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It is a moment to pause, reflect, and carry forward the stories of sacrifice, courage, and freedom.

Music has always helped us do that.

A song can bring back a memory, comfort a grieving heart, unite generations, and remind us that even in loss, we are never alone. From military tributes and hometown anthems to the quiet songs that help us heal, music carries emotion when words fall short.

At Texas Music Project, we believe music has the power to connect, heal, and preserve the spirit of those we remember today. As we honor our fallen heroes, may we also hold close the families, friends, and communities who continue carrying their legacy forward.

Today we remember.
Today we honor.
Today we let the music carry the meaning of their sacrifice.

What happens when you put a guitar in the hands of a child who never thought they’d have one?

Confidence grows. Creativity unlocks. A new path begins.

That is why the Texas Music Project is proud to partner with Free Guitars 4 Kids. Together, we are expanding access to music across Texas by placing instruments directly into the hands of students in underserved communities while connecting them to mentorship, education, and real opportunities through programs like Music Heals and Classroom to Stage.

This is more than a partnership. It is a shared mission to ensure that every child, regardless of circumstance, has the chance to experience the power of music.

“Partnering with the Texas Music Project allows us to reach more young people who may not otherwise have access to music,” says Benjamin Dudley, Executive Director of Free Guitars 4 Kids.

“When a student gets their first guitar, it can spark creativity, confidence, and a sense of belonging.”

We are just getting started.

We are excited to share the story of Cersei and Ava, two Lake Travis High School juniors who are leading Hearts in Harmony, a student-organized benefit concert raising funds for Texas Music Project in Austin.

In honor of their work, Texas Music Project is donating a Taylor 3/4 BT1 Spruce Guitar to be raffled at the concert. Peyton Prince, Board of Directors of Texas Music Project, will be there to personally present the guitar during the event.

Special thanks to our community partners at Easton Park and Mueller Austin Community Association, managed by Cohere for their ongoing support.

We cannot wait for you to meet the coolest organization we just had the privilege of partnering with. Can'd Aid is an organization that focuses on providing underprivileged communities with health and creativity tools. Meeting and talking to Abby and Becca, it was immediately clear that our missions align in action. These ladies are part of a larger team that coordinates local volunteers that help assemble and deliver tools like these Ukulele's, bikes for kids in these communities and more.

These opportunities and relationships helps us connect tools to the right communities through our Music Heals and Music Education Programs. Stay tuned to see how this partnership goes full circle. Those instruments don’t just become tools for learning. They become sources of confidence, connection, and healing in classrooms, hospitals, and community spaces across Texas.

This is what partnership looks like. This is how impact grows!

If your organization is ready to move beyond one-time support and help build something lasting, we invite you to partner with Texas Music Project.

From assembling ukuleles by hand to empowering volunteers to be part of the solution, Can’d Aid proves that access to music starts long before the first note is played.
