MiLB’s Story ❤️

MiLB = “My Little Buddy”

We don’t know MiLB’s story before he was found by a Good Samaritan curled up in the middle of the road near Canton on the last day of our winter ice storm.

We don’t know where he came from or where he was going.

We don’t know why he doesn’t quite know how to be okay with being petted… why accepting love seems so hard for him… or why he isn’t always sure how to show affection in return.

We don’t know how he ended up almost completely deaf and blind.

We don’t know what caused his Addison’s disease, his spinal injury, or the years of dental neglect that left him with such horrible teeth - only having few left.

We don’t know why he is so incredibly picky about food with dog food being 100% completely out of the question!

What we do know is that none of those things matter NOW!

What matters are the little victories.

The fact that when I’m home, he follows me everywhere and is rarely more than two feet away from me at all times.

The fact that after months of patience, he finally lets me tuck a blanket around him when he’s cold and shivering.

The fact that he recently licked me twice.

Twice!!!!!

For most dogs, those things wouldn’t seem like much. For MiLB, they are everything.

Those tiny moments are his way of saying, “I trust you. I love you.” They are his way of showing a human - his human - LOVE.

And that’s what makes helping animals like MiLB so special. We may never know what happened to him before he came here, but we can make sure the rest of his story is filled with safety, kindness, patience, and all the love he will allow!

If it weren’t for our followers, sponsors, donors, volunteers, and everyone who likes and shares our posts, we would not be able to give souls like MiLB the forever home they deserve.

Because of you, he will spend the rest of his life knowing that he is loved exactly as he is—for however long that may be.
