We harvest our bison as a herd management method in small batches and are able to tell you when the animal was born, how it lived, what it ate, when it was it's time to go and why. 3 Bar Bison implements regenerative agricultural practices to ensure healthier land and herd management. We provide low-stress, humane handling of the bison to achieve safety for the animals, as well as our ranch employees.

It may seem counter-intuitive, but one of the best ways to support the National Mammal is to eat it. 🥩
Bison no longer roam the plains by the millions, and unfortunately, that historic scale won't be possible again. That’s why the most effective way to keep the current bison population growing and healthy is to support your local bison producer. By buying bison products, you provide a critical economic incentive for sustainable ranching.

🌱 Not a Meat-Eater? Here are 3 Ways to Help:
If you’re not a meat eater, you can still be a huge advocate! Consider these options:
1. Support Protected Herds: Visit or donate to groups protecting wild herds, like the Texas State Bison Herd in Caprock Canyon State Park.
2. Donate to Conservation: Support the mission of the Texas Bison Association or the National Bison Association.
3. Read Up: Educate yourself on their history!

📚 Dive into History
If you’re new to bison and curious about their incredible past, I highly recommend Steven Rinella’s recent American History Audiobook about the bison hide hunters of the 1800s. I’m almost finished with it myself!
While it's always hard to fathom the near-total decimation of the American bison, understanding the "why" and "how" is fascinating. The details of the hide hunters' lives and what they witnessed are almost unbelievable—and they certainly wouldn't believe the conservation and meat industry we have today.
