A Reader's Delight

If at the bookstore, go around and hold ten books you've recently bought at that bookstore but still havent read. This makes me feel very guilty, and guilt can be a motivating factor.

Only buy books new and at full price. Cheap used books, bargain ebooks, and Audible Daily Deals lower my resistance to buying books I dont read.

Buy local

Try and buy books from a seller located close to you. Not only is a shorter shipping distance better for the environment but the closer the bookseller is to you the faster your books will arrive. When long distance and international orders are unavoidable, remember to plan for holidays and possible delays while your books clear customs.

Scroll through your entire Audible library and read aloud all the titles you havent heard. If you still buy the book and dont read it, let your punishment be making a handwritten list of all your unheard Audible books.

Buy your books Early

Try and buy your textbooks as soon as you receive your reading lists if you want the biggest savings. There are always a limited number of used textbooks and the cheapest ones go first. Buying early also means you won't have to worry about expedited or priority shipping options.

Books are good company, in sad times and happy times, for books are people a people who have managed to stay alive by hiding between the covers of a book.

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.

Perhaps there is some secret sort of homing instinct in books that brings them to their perfect readers. How delightful if that were true.
