Tonight marks the big kickoff for the SMU women's soccer team as they face Northwestern State in our season opener. With our move to the ACC, my excitement for the entire 2025 sports season is at an all-time high, starting tonight with women's soccer!

These ladies have dedicated their summer to pushing limits and perfecting their game, ready to start the season with a bang. Let’s fill the stands and show our Mustang spirit, loud and proud.

We're thrilled to give a huge shout-out and congratulations to Luana Alonso, 2x Olympian and standout swimmer from SMU, as she concludes her remarkable journey in the pool.

After competing at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Luana has officially announced her retirement from competitive swimming.

From dominating races to setting records, her incredible career has been nothing short of inspirational.

: Celebrating Carrie Underwood's Roots at NSU 🎓

Before she took the world by storm on American Idol and became a country music superstar, Carrie Underwood was a bright and dedicated student at Northeastern State University. Majoring in mass communications, Carrie graduated magna cm laude, proving her mettle both on and off the stage.

Carrie shone brightly in the NSU spotlight, from captivating performances in the Downtown Country Show to securing the title of First Runner Up in the Miss NSU Scholarship Pageant. An active member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority, she embodied the spirit of sisterhood and leadership.

Behind the scenes, Carrie was just as impactful, contributing as a producer for the student-produced TV program "The Quah" and writing for the award-winning student newspaper, The Northeastern.

Her journey took a pivotal turn when she left just three credits short of graduation to join American Idol—a decision that led to her iconic win and changed her path forever. Thanks to her accomplishments and NSU's support, she was awarded those final credits and completed her degree.

From "Jesus, Take the Wheel" to "Before He Cheats," Carrie's career soared post-graduation, but it all started at NSU, where her foundation was built.

Let's take a moment to appreciate where it all began for Carrie Underwood, reminding us that big dreams start with solid foundations.
