Just a reminder that it is way too hot for extended activity outside.

Tips:

* šŸŒ”ļø Avoid hot pavement — if it’s too hot for your bare feet, it’s too hot for paws.
* šŸ•— Walk early or late when temperatures are cooler.
* šŸ’§ Always provide fresh water and access to shade.
* šŸš— Never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a few minutes.
* šŸ• Limit strenuous exercise on hot days. Dogs can overheat even when they seem eager to keep going.
* šŸŠ Limit swimming time — swimming is exercise, and dogs can become exhausted or overheated. Always provide breaks and fresh drinking water.
* 🧊 Know the signs of heatstroke: excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, confusion, stumbling, collapse, or seizures.

Will come with support from me!

GRRNT is looking for a foster home without other dogs for Blaze, a 1.5 yr old male. He likes other dogs too much! He gets over excited about being with other dogs. We will help work on dog to dog socialization, but first he needs a foster home. If you could foster this handsome boy please email: [email protected]

This course has been on my radar for years… but life kept getting in the way.

2026 was the year and I have officially graduated and am a licensed family paw parent educator! Now my dog with baby programs will be even more robust!!

If you know anyone that is about to have a baby or is having any difficulties with toddlers and their dogs… I’d love to help them!

My specific area of focus will be behaviorally complex dogs and children. While not every dog can be safe with children, I can give management and training strategies to improve life while decisions are being made.

Larry,

When you were born, you had no idea that you were marked for greatness. That you were being tapped to fill the paws of an absolute badass. You were planned to fill Fiona’s paws before she had even left us.

My wildest dreams could not have dreamt up the dog that you are. You are everything: stable, cheeky, resilient, happy. You slid into Fiona’s paws as my partner and helper dog with ease and grace.

Larold, I am so proud of the dog that you are. Thank you for coming to us on my worst day (Richard went to pick her up mere hours after Hazel passed) and helping to ease my pain.

Fiona, thank you for the custom build of Larry. We named her after you… and she sure is living up to it!

Happy first birthday, Lawrence Elizabeth. Here’s to 10 more.

Welcome to Dead Dog Society

What started as a light hearted friendship of one girl that seemed to frequent the other two girls ER clinic too often… As well as training the service dog for one of them…. Quickly morphed to a triad that has been deeply scarred by 2025.

Then tragedy struck… over and over and over again. Between the 3 of us, we have lost 6 six dogs in 2025.

Leti and Molly showed up in my worst moments this year. Appearing in the middle of the night when I took Hazel to VEG when I told them I was fine. (I wasn’t okay…. We are still not okay)

We stood next to each other through each loss. Took dogs out of each other arms. Laid them on blankets and cried over them.

When the call came… we each answered… repeatedly.

2025 sucked big green donkey dicks.

I’m not going to wish for a better 2026. I’m just going to be thankful that I am going into it with The Dead Dog Society.

Five years. Holy s**t, how’d that happen?!

Happy birthday, Edmond Montgomery. You have made me a better trainer and more empathetic pet parent.

I am thankful everyday that you and I get to help dogs together!

How do you say goodbye to a dog that you’ve spent a decade with? You do it selflessly, with a ton of pain and a vet team that has your dog’s best interest at heart.

Thursday, we noticed Hazel was acting flatter than usual. Friday morning, I picked her up and she was on fire. Temp was 103.4. Well s**t.

Off to Cityvet Whiterock where the amazing Dr. D and team went to work. Unfortunately, news wasn’t great… She had Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia with a nodule on her spleen. The next 48 hrs were going to be critical… and well, she was gone before they were over.

Saturday, morning we went off to VEG and she was relatively stable. As long as she was drinking and eating. We had a chance.

Problem is she wasn’t eating. Threw up appetite stimulant. Had to be pilled for her meds. She was in a nose dive… I said all day she was leaving and I knew that I would be the one to send her on.

When Leti met me at VEG Saturday night, she gave me options… but she knew… I knew. We were in the middle of the treatment area and I broke. I have to say goodbye to my murder pup. I don’t get to do all the fun things… I don’t get to take a trip. I was mad. I am mad.

But, she asked to go and I said yes. DogDad came up with professor and in a private room with only people she knew and her best dog friend, we said goodbye.

My soul is raw and my heart is broken. My angry sentient mop who liked 3 people in the world beside DogDad and I had a meeting to go and it couldn’t wait. So she took the midnight train to meet her sister Fiona and to sit at the head of Murder Inc. Rest easy, chairman and keep that body count high. Momma’s got a list for you… love you.

There is a notation that dogs will just adjust to the new baby in the house… and sometimes they do, but most of the time it is very stressful for the dogs (and the humans).

My pet parent, Dr. Meg and her hubby, worked hard to prep their loafs for the new addition. Including set ups for baby pictures. Dog and baby pics are adorable as long as we do them safely!

The corgis are tethered and Dr. Meg measured to make sure they couldn’t reach the Bebe.

I’m so proud of this crew and all the hard work. Do you have a baby on the way or know someone that does?! Send them my way and we will make sure their pup is ready to be a good big sibling!
