A raised spa attached to the pool creates that waterfall edge people love in photos, but it also means the spa and pool share a footprint, so the layout has to work harder around it. Tuck it to the side instead and the pool reads as its own clean shape, with the spa as a separate feature you step into rather than spill from. Build it as its own detached space and now it's basically a second gathering spot, with its own seating and its own reason to exist apart from swimming. None of these is the "right" answer. But once concrete is poured, the choice is permanent, which is exactly why it's worth slowing down on before the design gets locked in.
