A good ole Texas Sunday where it’s 60 and sunny in January
My hair is clean and I’m wearing a poncho I crocheted
Daniel’s making dinner for his family who’s on the way to hang at my house to gather and drink wine and exchange late Christmas gifts and play games
It’s nice enough to grill, but my Christmas tree is still up
I have the day off tomorrow
I should probably take it down tomorrow (but like who cares if I don’t?)
Today feels so peaceful
Life feels happy
(ps this song is my friend’s song and he and I and lots of other pals are nominated for Dallas Entertainment Awards… & voting closes soon!
so if you like it or if you like me and my poncho,
you should vote for us!

Track 5: You
The last track of the EP.
This was the last song that we recorded… And it’s just me singing at my squeaky key-d, slightly out of tune piano. Just one take. It is imperfect.
And I am sooooo very intimidated by that.
But I am more so excited knowing that this is the song that rounds out the EP.
It is the end of the party.
Just me and you.
Every song feels vulnerable in its own unique way and this song is no exception… but it feels different. A whole other kind of vulnerable.
But it was Daniel and I’s anniversary yesterday!
And I wrote this song for him.
His love has made me feel brave.
It healed my heart so I could put this EP together… so I could put myself back together.
And his support has been integral to every ounce of this project.
I couldn’t do it without him.
So this is song is for him.
I thank him for listening.
And I thank you too.
See you at midnight! ❤️

Track 4: Let It Burn
The title track!!! Ugh this song was so much fun to write.
It was even more fun to record. I don’t think words can explain it properly, but I really think you will feel it. It was a party in my living room… a total joy.
I wrote this based around the idea of “if it’s already gone, let it go”. I feel like I tend to romanticize past versions of myself or things I’ve outgrown.
And I think true freedom is leaning into relief and acceptance.
This song is the party of the EP… it’s the tossing of the whatever you can’t carry forward into the fire with your favorite friends. With strangers. With whoever is next to you.
Light that s**t up!!!
Look at it go up in flames with acceptance.
Make peace with the past and look to what’s ahead.
Cheers!!!!

Track 3: Lift The Veil
I remember writing this song so vividly.
Another conversation where I left feeling like I didn’t even get a chance to say how I was doing.
And I was kinda relieved.
This song is about how it feels much easier to listen rather than being the one who opens up. At least for me.
It’s about how… and I think we all feel the way to some degree… we deeply want to feel seen, but we also completely fear it. It’s scary.
Putting out this song feels scary.
But when I look back on this time, I want to remember feeling brave.
This song is about late night conversations, inner monologues, and the questions we ask ourselves when we’re alone.
At the end of the day, that’s only what I think it’s about.
I hope you find something in it that is uniquely yours.
I can’t wait to hear what that is. ❤️

Track 2: Adrenaline
When I wrote this song, I never intended on anyone really hearing it. But, I timidly played it for friends and then friends kept requesting it and all of a sudden… it’s one of my favorite songs to play.
It meant so much to me at the time… to admit things to myself that I was scared to admit.
It meant so much to me the first time the band ever played it. Hearing it come alive like that felt like watching a seed grow into a tree right in front of my eyes. It was one of the first songs of mine I ever “taught” anyone else.
It meant so much to me recording it… like I was hugging the girl that wrote it 3 years ago.
Applauding her for writing something honest.
Letting her know that other people will appreciate it.
Telling her that one day her stupid talented band will play it and it’ll make you cry every single time you listen to it!!!
Releasing this one has felt like a long time coming.
And I dedicate it to everyone who never stopped bothering me about putting it out.
It means the world to me that you love it like I love it.

Track 1: Funny
I went back-and-forth for a while on whether or not I wanted to include this song, a previous previously released single, on the EP. Part of me wanted to let these new songs stand alone, almost like a stamp in time of the special experience of recording it.
But after bothering my family and friends over the span of months, asking for their top EP fantasy draft picks, we landed on these songs.
So, the EP is going to have 5 songs.
And fuuuunnny enough, these songs span over the last 5 years of my life.
I didn’t plan it that way… it just kinda happened.
I quickly realized that this song kicked off a new era for me.
And now I get a chance to share these photos from that shoot with .
She’s been such a beautiful collaborator from the start.
This song broke my streak of breakup songs.
It was a palette cleanser for me… a deep breath.
It continues to be.
And I hope it has been in the past and will continue to be that for you too.

Welcome to my house!!
Our makeshift studio for the weekend…
Where we recorded the entire EP.
Where took all the photos.
Where these songs really came to life.
I called up to talk about releasing new music… I had a silly idea.
“What if we just record it at my house?”
And so we did. I found a piano someone was donating and frantically got it delivered and tuned. They threw some gear in the car to head here from Nashville, I pulled out whatever gear I had, and we camped out here over a weekend.
We invited the band over and all of our friends to just hangout. We caught up over homemade meals, celebrated Cal’s birthday, and reminisced about the other songs we’ve done together.
I was looking for that freedom in just playing and hanging out with my friends. We were excited to see what we could come up with, getting creative with gear and allowing things to be imperfect.
Sunday rolled around and I was so proud of what we created.
I felt inspired and supported. In retrospect, it was truly an ideal situation.
I’d trade the fanciest studio in the world for my living room with my friends.
