With heavy hearts, we announce that President Jeffrey R. Holland, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died today at approximately 3:15 a.m. MST from complications associated with kidney disease, while surrounded by his family. He was 85.

“My total responsibility … is to bear witness of the Lord Jesus Christ,” President Holland said hours after he was called to be an Apostle in 1994. “As inadequate as I feel, it is the most pleasant and most rewarding and most thrilling assignment a man can have in this world.”

Bacolod Philippines Temple milestones, renaming of San José California Temple The open house and dedication dates for the Bacolod Philippines Temple have been announced, and the San José California Temple will be renamed as the Sunnyvale California Temple.

Gentle reminder from my ARP reading this morning.

Be Ye Therefore Perfect—Eventually Elder Holland teaches that in responding to the commandment to be perfect, we should not get discouraged but should persevere to achieve the goal in eternity.

Shame is the voice that beats you up, saying, “What were you thinking?” “Do you ever get anything right?”

Shame doesn’t tell us we made a mistake; it tells us we are our mistakes. You may even hear, “Hide.” The adversary does everything in his power to keep the heaviness inside, telling us the cost is too high, that it will be easier if this stays in darkness, removing all hope.

Satan is the thief of hope.

And you need to hear this, so I’ll say these words out loud: You are not the voice in your head or the mistakes you have made. You may need to say that out loud too. Tell Satan, “Not today.” Put him behind you.

Your Repentance Doesn’t Burden Jesus Christ; It Brightens His Joy Sister Runia teaches that our worth doesn’t change when we make mistakes and that the Savior understands us and wants us to choose Him again and again.
