We hear a version of this often: "𝙄 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙄 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙛𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙞𝙩. 𝙄 𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡 𝙜𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙩𝙮 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙩." 😅

It makes sense when you think about it. Most people spend decades building the habit of saving. Automatic contributions, disciplined budgets, resisting the urge to dip in. That habit served them well.

Then retirement asks them to do the opposite, and there's no muscle memory for that. A withdrawal can feel wrong even when the plan says it's exactly right.

That discomfort is normal. It's also something a good plan should help you work through, not just calculate around.

Here's something we've learned after years of doing this. The meeting is rarely where the decision gets made.

People nod along, ask good questions, leave with a clear plan in hand. Then they get in the car, and that's when it actually starts to sink in. 🚗

Sometimes it happens at the kitchen table that night. Sometimes it's a vacation site left open on a laptop for three days before anyone clicks "book." Sometimes it's finally saying "maybe one more year" out loud for the first time.

We plan for that. A good financial plan should still make sense in that moment, not just in the room where it was presented.
