Furlough Kitchen is back for a very special collaboration with FB Society to provide meals to 🤍
The Family Place, a local shelter for women and children in need due to domestic abuse, had a pipe burst and flood their facility. 52 women and 77 children are displaced AGAIN.
The Gibbons Gives- Family Trust has made a generous donation to the Furlough Kitchen to ensure these families are taken care of (thankful for The Gibbons Family and FB Society CEO, Jack Gibbons!) With growing and continued needs, your support would mean the world to the impacted families – and to us! We would appreciate any support – a share or donation will go a long way!
We’re also working on clothing & blanket drives and coordinating meals for city workers in need. More to come…and thank you!

As Furlough Kitchen is coming to a close, we'd like to thank our amazing volunteers and sponsors! We could not have done this without you and your incredible generosity and support. Furlough Kitchen has served nearly 40,000 meals during this unprecedented time and it has been amazing to see the community come together. Today is our last day to hand out meals to all furloughed workers. We will make deliveries to hospitals and families in need only. Again, we say thank you and we love our community! đź’›

Nationally, unemployment just hit 14.7%. The restaurant and hospitality industries have been especially hard hit in the pandemic. The Texas Restaurant Association says 688,000 restaurant employees have been laid off or furloughed.

Furlough Kitchen
Formed during a dire, unprecedented time in the hospitality industry, Furlough Kitchen is a pop-up non-profit serving high-quality meals via curbside pick-up to hospitality employees who were furloughed during the COVID-19 crisis.
By utilizing Front Burner’s catering commissary kitchen in the heart of East Dallas and Citysquare’s support network, we are uniting our culinary team to cook a hot meal for anyone affected by restaurant and event closures.
As a part of the service industry, it is our goal to provide nourishment, connection and hope for the future of our industry, one meal at a time.
