Have you ever felt so overwhelmed that you couldn't even name what you were feeling?

Here is a simple practice for moments like that, adapted from Jim Wilder and rooted in Exodus 3.

Start by asking God to remind you that he sees you. To be seen is to be loved. Then let him remind you that he hears you, that whatever you are carrying can be brought into the conversation. Then let him move toward you. Exodus 3 says God knows our suffering, and that word means more than knowing about it. It means he feels it.

Last, let him assure you that he is present, that he cares, and that he wants to be with you in it.

Just three or four minutes. Seen, heard, felt, and not alone.

A lot of leaders do good, hard, kingdom-focused work. But somewhere along the way, that work shifts from being done with Jesus to being done for him. The difference matters more than it seems.

We are called to be yoked with Jesus and to learn from him. His yoke is easy and his burden is light. That is not a metaphor for low effort. It is a description of what sustainable, Spirit-filled leadership actually feels like from the inside.
