I have my page back!!!!!! And here is a little morsel to help motivate you!

Too many people make the mistake of thinking that leadership is all about having power over people, and they believe that their title gives them the power to force certain behaviors from their team.

Leadership has nothing to do with having power over someone so my; it's about using your influence to inspire and empower your people to achieve them possible. This perception that leadership is about leading by force is dead, and if you still have this thinking, you will not attract the best people to your business.

The workforce has changed, and as such, are thinking about work and leadership must change to give our organizations any chance of survival in this very competitive world. When you understand that leadership is all about people and using your influence to inspire, and power, and motivate your team to become the very best, your organization will become one of the best in the world!

As the sun set this evening to begin Yom Kippur, the most Holy day of the Jewish year, and Our Day of Atonement, we take pause, reflect, and look within ourselves.

We ask forgiveness from those whom we may have wronged over the past year and even more importantly (in my opinion), we forgive those who have wronged us. We pray for the Creator to have mercy and forgive of our sins regardless of whether they were committed willingly or under duress, and ask that G-d grant us atonement for all of our iniquities.

True repentance means that we do what me must to change so that we do not repeat the sins again. (It's much easier to make than vow than it is to keep it. But He know we are imperfect beings. After all He made us this way.)

So...on this Day of Atonement I pray that Hashem, our G-d and the G-d of our fathers, please find favor in our rest, forgive us of our transgressions and grant us our portion in His Torah. May all Jews who call unto G-d rest, be blessed and sanctified by our works and have their names inscribed in the Book of Life.

The Heroic Work of Repentance

This time of year, we hear again and again about how much emphasis places on the nuances of how to address harm of all kinds.

The Hebrew word that generally gets translated as "repentance" is t'shuvah, which literally means "returning." In modern Hebrew, can mean "returning" in the sense of "I returned home after my trip." In the context, t'shuvah is about returning to the you know you're capable of being with and .

There are five steps to t'shuvah: confession (naming and owning the harm that we have caused); (beginning to change so that we don't do it again through , , ourselves, , and are great starts); amendments (material or non-material acts of repair to those harmed); (a genuine apology to those , which focuses on their needs being met); and (finally making different the next time you have the chance to do the same thing.

But before we take those , we must grapple with our . Owning up to the hurt we may have caused someone else is difficult, even when it's as small as the thing we said that didn't land as we hoped. It is that much more to face a to a one, a to be there for someone in , an outburst, a choice to be complicit in , , or other actions with real, .

Sometimes we might resist owning our less optimal choices because we feel or . We might because we don't want to face the inevitable of coming clean. Maybe sometimes - or a lot of the time - we resist owning the we've perpetrated because it would require us to face the ways in which we are than our self-conception. Facing how we haven't been our best selves is agonizing and and might require our internal ; we are as and as everyone else. We, too, have work to do.

We have two options: show up with self-awareness and , or minimize, ignore, and . It is awfully tempting to try to minimize the impact of our or it with reasons. There are always reasons. We all do this, at least some of the time.

don't harm. Reasons don't fix harm. Fixing harm is only possible when we face the gap between the we tell ourselves, about ourselves, and the of our . Only when we summon our to cross that gulf of and face who we are and who we have been - even if it our story of ourselves - can we the harm we've done and become the kind of who might be able to do next time. And that is what's truly heroic.

Are you managing, or are you leading?

Organizations need inspirational leadership and active management in today's dynamic workplace for optimal effectiveness. We need leaders to challenge the status quo, inspire, motivate, empower, and much more. But moreover, we also require managers to assist in developing and maintaining a smoothly functioning workplace. Still, they should also have strong leadership skills to maintain a positive work environment. Unfortunately, many of the problems in various organizations today come from overmanagement with little or no leadership.

We need leaders to stand up for their employees, lead by example, and create an environment their employees love. Leadership is all about people, motivating and inspiring people to believe in something beyond their self-limitations to achieve a result that benefits and adds value to the people they are entrusted to serve.
