ST. MARTÍN DE PORRES (1579–1639)
The Humble Healer of Lima

Born into poverty in Lima, Peru, Martín de Porres—son of a Spanish nobleman and a freed slave—rose above prejudice through humility and love.
Serving as a Dominican lay brother, he cared for the sick and the poor with deep compassion:

“Compassion, my brother, is preferable to cleanliness.”

He lived the Gospel through mercy, not words, and became a symbol of unity and charity for all.

🌍✝️ St. Frumentius of Ethiopia
Patron of Ethiopia

Born in Lebanon, shipwrecked on the Red Sea, and taken to Axum’s royal court, St. Frumentius turned tragedy into mission. With his brother Aedeius, he expanded the Church into Ethiopia, encouraged trade with the West, and convinced St. Athanasius to send missionaries from Alexandria. Later consecrated as Ethiopia’s first bishop, Frumentius brought countless souls to Christ before his death in 380.

A man whose shipwreck became a cornerstone of faith.

ST. JOHN PAUL II, POPE
“Be not afraid!”

Born Karol Wojtyła in 1920 Poland, his life was marked by suffering and deep faith. From losing his family young to working in Nazi-occupied quarries, he learned the sacred dignity of human life.

As priest, bishop, and later pope, he called the world to open its heart to Christ — traveling farther than any before him, standing firm against fear, and uniting his own suffering with love.

🌿 St. Luke the Evangelist
Physician • Evangelist • Patron of Artists

A Gentile by birth, a doctor by trade, and a disciple by grace — St. Luke gave the Church the Gospel of mercy and the Acts of the Apostles. He journeyed with Paul, never leaving his side, even when all others had gone. Through his Gospel we hear of the Good Samaritan, the Prodigal Son, and the Magnificat of Mary — stories that show God’s mercy poured out for the poor, the sinner, and the forgotten.

The beloved physician became the evangelist of compassion, whose words still paint Christ’s face in every heart. 🎨✝️
